G.Skill

Lifetime warranty, good quality, and cheaper than Corsair.

I have their Ripjaws and works great.

I have G.Skill now, but I've owned Patriot, OCZ and Samsung RAM before without issues.

I did have an issue with the G.Skill but I did an RMA to from where I bought it and the new pair works fine.

+1 G.Skill

I have had great luck with them. They are very affordable and stand behind their product.

G.Skill is good, but if I can find Corsair or OCZ for nearly the same price i'd rather buy the corsair or OCZ.

G.Skill's support just isn't as good as the likes of OCZ. When you call the support number for OCZ you get a real person in the US and they have advanced RMA options as well. Corsair is the same way. Real english speaker, overall better support.

So while G.Skill makes a fine product, their support definatly isn't as good.

RAM is pretty much the same these days. unless youre going for an extreme overclock, buy whatever brand is the cheapest that has heatsinks and lifetime warranty.

they all use the same chips...brand doesnt really mean anything outside of loyalty, a general promise of quality, and RMA support.

Doesn't really matter. As long as it's rated for your motherboard, I would go with the cheapest.

RAM is so cheap anyways, and like Somnam-nam-nam said, it's all the same.

I disagree. Go for quality ram, the last thing you want is DIMMs dying on you.

In other words, it's a Chevy with a Maserati logo on it, that you're paying a Maserati price for.

The manufacturers offer similar warranties and you really only pay more for the *overclockable* ram (which only buys you speed in synthetic benchmarks)

except it's not true. they don't all use the same chips. And even when they do, the circuit board isn't the same either. That is why there is so much difference between different memories.

What you need to do is check and see what memory works best with your motherboard. All motherboards have some memory brands that work better than others, and some that cause errors.

It's just not worth spending the money on.

Memory is probably the most solid component in most computers in terms of durability (assuming you're not changing clock or voltage . . and i'm not including Flash memory, that's another discussion)

It's kind of like sound cards. They used to be required in order to get any manner of good sound, but nowadays, any motherboard has integrated sound that's satisfactory.

You can go and buy some advanced sound card or memory, but when you do a real world durability and performance comparison, it's overpriced unless you have some niche computing area you're into.

It just seems so interesting that people are happy to pay more for something that doesn't actually improve the performance of their computer a noticable amount.

I'm glad people like the ram they payed too much for.

Out of the ones you listed, I vote G.Skill

But I would say Corsair above everything.

I have used GEIL, G.Skill, Mushkin, Kingston, Crucial, OCZ, A-Data, and a few others I forgot.

Always gone Corsair. I never had a single rma in 5 pc builds (ofc rma incidents are unique for every person I admit.) Besides even if I did i can always count on their excellent customer support.

I'm using OCZ's Black line... and I have used their platinum line before... both were great. Besides that, I've never gone wrong with Corsair XMS, or Crucial.

Never had G-Skill, but I think they are certainly worth a shot if your on a budget.
