Having trouble running it in Windows 7 though. After 5-10 minutes it locks up the whole PC. I tried it in compatibility mode and some other fixes I read online but no go. Any ideas?
Its the Triple Thrill pack of the game, has RC2, Time Twister and Wacky worlds all on it. Wish the guy would put out an update or newer version of the game. -- "When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace." -Jimi Hendrix |

try resetting your theme to windows classic/windows basic aswell,
one weird solution for starcraft was to open the screen resolution, with windows basic as the theme, however that was a color issue
usually it just takes ALOT of tinkering with the shortcut properties
it appears one solution is to use virtualbox(free) with a copy of xp

i find it hard to believe you tried all these
another good step would be to download the newest patch manually |

| reply to Fir_Na_Tine If you have a newer processor in your PC, try Windows 7 XP Mode. It's an XP emulator, for the most part, that should run most XP programs without a hitch. I haven't tried it with Rollercoaster Tycoon, but ya never know. It's available directly from Microsoft. -- »www.theexitwound.com |

I think xp emulation mode will only run in 2D (desktop mode) and not for gaming. Anyone confirm or deny?
Oh yeah, I wanted to mention I played this game on Vista 64 w/ the waterpark expansion last year sometime and I didn't have any issues with it. Could be one of the expansions with your game... if you can try installing the base game and see if that yields the same problem. -- Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, all right. | You were playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 if you had the waterpark expansion (Splash, I think it's called). The OP is trying to play RCT 2. It's a whole different animal. RCT1 and 2 were both released before Windows XP and most users were using Windows '98.
Windows '98 has a DOS based kernel while XP/Vista/Win7 all are NT based Kernels. Getting RCT1 and 2 to run in the NT Kernel is a bit tricky at times. The games just weren't designed to run on NT.
What I ended up doing is installing Windows '98 in DOSbox. I tried Virtualbox, but I coudn't get any video/sound drivers for '98 to work properly. Windows '98 isn't really supported in Virtualbox, but, it runs pretty well in DOSBox. -- If we were not meant to fly, why were we given Adrenaline and Endorphins.
