Update on my job (part 2)

Okay, so I have been busting my ass for this restaurant I have been working at all summer. Doing this and that to make sure things are going right.
In June, I was promised a $2 hour raise. I saw this in the following pay check and since took it for granted I was getting the wage I expected. However, this last pay check I noticed I was getting the "starting pay" (less the raise). I came home and went through the pay stubs and noticed I haven't ben paid the raise except one pay cycle in early June. In other words, I am screwed 1000 dollars or so.
Hence, I quit.
They want to screw me? Sorry, I screwed them worse. They can no longer open for lunches as I was the only lunch cook.

My weakness is to trust people to be honest and treat me right as I do them. I guess in these days I should rethink this and only worry about ME! That's what everyone else is doing now.

Ouch....Did you ask them about it? At first I thought maybe a problem with payroll company or maybe just an innocent mistake. I assume since you quit though they essentially said tough luck?

Well,I quit in a rage. But this morning a got a call from a mutual friend of boss and myself. She said "PLEASE go talk to Luanne, she is in tears about you quitting." So I very reluctantly went, and explained it all and she fixed the problem and then some.

I figured they would come around. They stand to lose far more than the $1,000 they owe you since they could not open for lunch for awhile.

Should I quit Thursday night / Friday morning?

I've told the kids "Don't worry, it won't be so bad" all summer (multiple buses, multiple weddings, etc.). They think I'm lying now.
Figuring out the lobby height above mean high water (8 feet) worried them. Letting guests leave/ cancel reservations with no penalty isn't helping. Carrying linens and towels upstairs had one girl in tears. Phones and TVs (new) have been stripped from a few rooms. A truck shows up tomorrow.

Oh well... I'll kick everyone out to a shelter and go home for a couple days. Clambake was planned for Sunday, we'll see what happens.

Don't we just "love" working in the restaurant & hotel industry?

... mmmmm.... Not really.

Sorry to hear of these problems. For what it's worth, I would love to quit my job and do full time what I want to do but the economy won't allow me to do that.

Nor me. My "location" doesn't help much either! Oh well, it pays the bills.

My wife and I are in the same boat as well.

This summer sure hasn't gone as planned. I have already made plans for next years job line up. And it doesn't include my current employer. This job sucks and I can't wait for it to end! I am going back full time to my job of last summer and maybe another. Either way, I am leaving my current one ASAP....

Amen, Bubba...
I started doing Motels "to get out of the house" and I had 2,000 hours of "real work" in the winter. Now it's "to keep the house" and maybe 200 hours of real work.
Thank Gawd I'm ---kin' charming!

I see a brutal winter ahead...

I too see a bad winter comming. I am 5000 behind my normal income year to date. For the most part, I am F'd for unemployment because of this. And I blame allot on my current employer. Let's just say I can shut her down for tax evasion......

There is creative changing payroll tax. And then there is down right bypassing, as is clearly done. Paying under The table to avoid income tax, ect. I can so screw my employer if I send
one little letter to the state. She is shut down. But, that isn't my nature.

I audit the books every night. I have Admin rights to the computer.

How am I supposed to NOT see the second set of cooked books?

I'm a Boy Scout with the audit. OK, I round up hours for payroll, but that keeps people happy and turnover low.

I see a fat bonus at the end of the season.

No bonus for me.
I've been busting my ass, (much more then normal) to be 5000k behind what I normally am-- Year to date. Yup, I am pissed.

Yup, I am quitting my current job when I am able to collect "full" unemployment. (About December)

Then, I have two potential employment options. Either way, this job sucks, and I am just doing what I have to, then I am gone.

--- Unless my second potential job fails, I am going BACK full time to my former employer of 2 years---
