After 5 years my old socket 478 was starting to get a little long tooth. After "hemming and hawing" for a few months this is what I ended up building. |

Re: Your System - September/October/November 2010 Dell GX280 minitower with 3.2 GHz P4: - upgraded memory from 1GB to 3 GB - replaced a 80 GB drive with two Seagates, 1.5 TB (storage) and 400 GB (boot) -- the latter eventually had to be moved into a 5.25" bay due to temps that were too hot for my taste - replaced a 6600 GT with an XFX 5670 video card - added a firewire card
It's on an IOGear VGA/PS/2 KVM hooked up to a Dell 2709W. Main usage is websurfing and storing my daughter's cartoons and movies.
Added -- some power specs thanks to Kill-A-Watt: - maximum power draw during boot: 201W - in idle after WinXP is booted: 105W - watching Southpark full screen at 1920x1200: 170W
