 | [Cable] Considering switching from robbers to teksavvy. Question Hey guys,
I'm currently with rogers for my internet and tv. I'm thinking of switching my internet over to teksavvy and was wondering about a few things.
Quick details:
Rogers HI-Speed express paying 46.99/month plus 3.00 modem rental
totalling 56.49/month for internet alone

Quick Questions:
1)I live in the sheppard/meadowvale area near port union and was wondering if anyone had any experience with teksavvy in this area. Is it bad or good? How reliable, etc.
2)If I switch over to teksavvy from rogers, will there be a noticeable difference in speed, service, etc.?
3)Will I be unable to access the internet for a while or is the switch generally painless?
Thanks guys! |

| Since you already have Rogers Cable all you have to do is plug in your new modem and have it activated. You can run into problems if your already using your own modem and then use the same one for Teksavvy cable as its already in use by Rogers. It has the same reliability as Rogers long as Teksavvy core network doesn't go down at 151 Front St. Your speeds will be the same but you might get better pings and better DNS servers. As long as your PHUB isnt congested your speeds will be the same but you can rest assured that if there are any problems teksavvy/rogers will fix them as long as you give them time. |

Re: [Cable] Considering switching from robbers to teksavvy. Ques said by xdrag:you might be on the mcnicoll phub if you're in scarborough. that has congestion issues atm As of yesterday, not anymore. cross fingers.
if you want to be sure when it comes to any local node congestion, you can run teksavvy's speedtest during peak hours on a neighbor's machine and see what you get, but being that you're in Markham, I'd be surprised if there is any. AFAIK Markham hasn't been rolled out yet, but I could be wrong. |

 | reply to Hai Guise I live a few blocks west of you in the Neilson/Sheppard area. I don't know if we're using the same phub, but where I am, I'm not suffering from congestions as far as I've seen. My speeds, including ping, is pretty much the same as yours.
As for the switch, I've heard some people were activated a few minutes after being deactivated by Rogers and plugging in their new modem. Personally, mine was quite a bit more painful, with it taking 8 days to activate and another 3 days to get someone to re-connect my line after Rogers came along earlier and disconnected it. And, then there are the horror stories of people not being connected after a month. |

 | reply to Hai Guise Wow, thanks for all the replies guys! Really helpful, my only remaining question is how would I go about switching from rogers? Do they require 1 month notice or anything like that? Thanks! |

 | When you call Rogers to cancel, they will have 30 days before service is terminated. Once you get the cancellation date, you can call Teksavvy to order, letting them know the cancellation date, which they should set as the activation date for your TSI cable service. |
