Re: Liquid Drain openers
I'm not very handy when it comes to plumbing. I've tried the usual drain cleaners, even sulfuric acid once, and nothing worked very well over the long run.
About 8 years ago I started treating slow drains with a natural home remedy and haven't had a clog since. Lots of recipes and variations, but I pour about a 1/2 cup of baking soda into the drain and follow with a cup of white vinegar - it will bubble and foam like a chemistry experiment. Don't mix with chemicals.
Wait 15 minutes to a half hour and pour as much boiling water down the drain as possible. Large pot off the stove. Use more and repeat more often with stubborn drains.
I've never tried this in the toilet, not sure about that. I think some recipes add an ingredient or two.
Weekly treatments turned into monthly and now I only treat the drains about 4 times a year.
