SPA2102 - Locked .. Access config file over ssl.

I have a Speakeasy SPA2102 device that I would like to unlock, if possible.

As described in this site, I set up a dhcp/ apache to find the config url, overwrite it, so that I can access the admin URL.

The problem is box tries to access "rc.spkmedia.net." over SSL. It disconnects if the ssl validation fails.

Anybody has overcome this problem? Or should I just throw the box and get a new unlocked one?
