Joe P, I just checked the link in my post and it certainly didn't lead to the page I was at. Weird. Hopefully this link will take you to the search page: »drivers.on-line.net.nz/. Enter the following info:
Information to find: Avance 97 (exactly as written)*
Category: Sound
Operating System: Any
*If you don't you will get no results. Your search should turn up five Avance zip files for download, including one for the 82801AA chipset. Hope this helps. |

I went to that site earlier today and saw that driver but I don't think it is for the chip I have. According to the information in device manager it is an Intel not Avance. The information is as follows:
"AC'97 Driver for Intel 82801AA Controller"
"Driver Manufacturer: Intel"
"Driver Provider: Microsoft"
"Driver Date: 06/08/2001"
So, based on that data I believe I have to find the driver for the Intel. As I stated in my original post I got duped into trying the Crystal manufacturer driver and it hosed my system.
