New Headsets

I am researching new headset /w mics for online gaming for the PC and console (PS3). I have read countless reviews and everyone that owns a pair seems to be happy with theirs. I understand that comfort is something that is personal preference, but I am looking for sound/quality recommendations. However if it helps I have a Flinestone head, so I need something that will not cause a canyon sized dent.

What I am looking for is someone that is knowledgeable with 1) the specs part 2) reviews 3) what looks to be worth while for a good time period. I do not want a pair that is outdated in a year or two. Basically good comparison/contrast between the main headset competitors (Turtle Beach [if they make one for both PC AND PS3], Trittons, Sharkoon...). Being that I am not well versed in headsets (first attempt to get a good pair) or the specs, I am hoping for a basic breakdown. At least a recommendation list.

My budget is between 120-150 maybe squeeze to 160ish for a "next step up" model.

I have read some people like the legit 8 speaker surround sound, but some say the sound of the simulated surround sound is better. Some recommend a mini amp. I would rather voice/game sound control with mic mute all in one package. I would love wireless, but I do not see a product out there that fits my needs.

Basically I want a bad *** headset that works with my PC and PS3 with good sound quality and sound adjustable. I do not want to shell out decent money (for me at least) and get a overpriced hunker.

With some research done I came across these:

Not sure if this will help or be needed:

Any help, please, would be appreciated. I am affraid of making an expensive/poor decision.

I had the Tritton AX Pros..Wouldn't recommend it simply for all the wires and the box thing..

I myself plan to buy this
»www.amazon.com/Logitech-7-1-Chan···gs_e_1_6

But that's if you just need it for PC..

I have the Logitech G35 and they're great, only downside is it's pretty much for PC only, the mic will work on PS3 but you won't hear anything in the actual headphones. There's a pair of regular stereo headphones from Turtle Beach that work on PS3 specifically and can also be used on PC without all the cables. It's around $70

Logitech has unveiled a new headset for gamers that will work with multiple gaming devices. The headset will connect with three different audio sources like the PS3, Xbox, and PC. It also supports wireless voice chats for in game audio and more.

The headset is called the F540 and is has a pair of 40mm drivers tuned for quality sound in games. The headset connects to the device using 2.4GHz wireless technology. The batteries inside the headset are rechargeable and promise up to ten hours of play per charge.

The headset batteries can be recharged while you play as well by connecting the charge cable. The F540 should ship in October and will sell for $149.99 (USD). You can pre-order the headset at Logitech right now.

Don't get an Icemat Siberia, I have one I bought years ago and the sibilance is horrendous, and the bass rolls off in the midranges!
