I don't... but I want to. If I could only save up enough for a dual G4. -- Have a bad roommate? Are they getting on your nerves? Visit My Roommate Sucks!!! : »www.digitaldelirium.tv/roommate |

| reply to quickstang22$ Not in any order or ranking: Ease of use, cross-platform compatibility, speed, It boots up, very few security patches, it does what I want when I want, if it does break......very easy to fix, it will run multiple OSes......3 that I use..... OS 9, OS X and Linux, they look cool, most Mac users can run a PC (most choose not to).....most PC users can't run a Mac, low maintenance, high up front cost lower operating costs, few viruses.
I could go on and on........ -- Dad, Big Yapper |

| reply to quickstang22$ Wow, what a good question. For me, it all began when I was 8 years old. My dad bought my family our first computer, an Apple ][e. Ever since then, I have felt more at home using a Macintosh.
I continue to use my mac(s) because I am able to control the OS fairly well and consider it to be a safe and secure operating system and hardware team.
Also, I guess I always strayed away from the mainstream. When everyone was excited to see Windows 3.1 come out, I never caught on to the hype. I was happy with my Performa running System 7.
I guess this thinking continues for me outside of the computer world. I drove cars that people didn't know exist (had a VW quantum 5 cyl for years) and participated in sports that people thought were downright odd (began snowboarding 13 seasons ago). Yes, I had a mohawk in high school and played in a punk/ska band for years.
Well, what I am getting to is that for me my mac is more than a tool to write reports on and surf the internet. The "Think Different" mentality really hits home with me. I'm just glad more and more people like you are exposing yourself to something some of us have been accostomed to since day one (or 1984 for others:))
And welcome to the ATM forum! |

| reply to quickstang22$ These are my top 6 reasons: 1. It just works! Hardly any maintenance, and very easy to fix if it doesn't work. 2. Faster and more responsive than any PC running at a higher MHz rating. 3. Little to no crashes (OS 9), or no crashes at all (OS X). 4. Very few security risks. 5. Virus threats are almost negligible. 6. Ease of use. 7. It does what I tell it to do (most of the time LOL). 8. True Plug-n-Play. 9. Very easy to install/remove software. 10. Very cool hardware designs.

It's the original. It's the premium.
Why use a copy when you can use the original?
Why use regular when you can use premium?
Virtually every single feature of computers today was initiated by Apple. Apple started it, they know best how to do it, and they should get the credit.
When the Wintel crowd starts complaining about the Mac, they don't realize that:
- Mac users don't care that you can get a slapped-together clone box cheaper. You get what you pay for.
- They don't care that there are more games. If you have to run 'em on that stolen OS they're no fun anyway.
- They don't care that there is "more software". They don't spend even a second in envy of some Windows software package.
- They don't care that the Wintel platform is "more popular". It was illegally pushed to the market lead, not by consumer choice but by felonious behavior on the part of Gates.
- They don't care that you can't "build your own". It isn't "building" anyway, and when you are done snapping together pre-made components (whoop-de-doo!) in some generic $19 case, you are still stuck with Windows.
- They don't care that the clock speed of AMD processors is faster. Even if it translated into faster performance, the gain isn't worth dealing with the archaic AT architecture, the x86 instruction set, and --- Windows.
The car analogy is overused. How about a guitar analogy? Martin or Sears? After all, Sears is cheaper, more popular, etc. And they both play music. --

| I ordered 10.1 from apple last night, 2 day delivery... i think my hd is bad though, i have been getting system freezes at startup requiring complete reinstalls 5 times in the past month, 3 months ago my main hd actually dissappeared altogether (when i booted up off the cd the secondary hd was there but the main drive was just "gone" i formatted and resinstalled and it was fine for awhile. ive gone through all the usual stuff to diagnose with no luck, when the 10.1 comes ill switch around the drives (is the 10.1 cd bootable, or does it require 9.x to be installed first?) -- |OOL Terms Of Service | OOL Speed Test | |
