| Re: T-online dsl and windows xp Un-install your entire T-Online software,the lot EVERYTHING. Install Win XP as normal. When the install is complete re-install your T-Online 4.0 (or 3.0) software.Follow the instructions and happy surfing. You might get a message saying New hardware found this should be your network card, just install the drivers Win XP gives you (XP builds it's own drivers?). Also download »ftp://software.t-online.de/pub/service···etup.exe and »ftp://software.t-online.de/pub/service···etup.exe from T-Online's home page. Cheers | |

@195.27.x.x | Or you might want to think about getting rid of the T-Online software completely, and using something simple like RASPPPOE...

| Re: T-online dsl and windows 98 Forgive me this but what is "RASPPOE" ? I am running the T-online DSL but never installed any of their dialers just filled in the appropriate info in my Win98 dialer. the only problem I have not over come yet is the changing of my email number to something more pallatable. Can "RASPPOE" accomplish that or is there an easier way?
thanks | |

| Re: T-online dsl and windows 98 If you are running an English Ver. of Windows, DO NOT INSTALL THE T-ONLINE SOFTWARE...
Not Only is it a pig Diskspace/Slowness It is also very buggy at times.
Goto the RASPPPOE home page and get the newest version 0.98 and load it up. Make a new Dial-up connection ang plug in your account Info.
RASPPPOE = 100k T-Online CD = 20Mb

to get rid of the software go to (»ftp://software.sda.t-online.de/pub/ser···etup.exe) and download the raw driver for your T-online modem.once this is installed just set up a dialup connection. you need to make sure your device is set to (T-DSL Adaptor Line 01)and, add (@t-online.de)to your user name.This should be all those numbers in the first three lines (combined) on the paperwork that you should have gotten with your DSL spliter and account info from t-online.

@t-online.de
| You need no special software at all. Everything is allready build into XP.
Add simply a new dial up connection:
type: broadband (or something like this; I've no English WinXP available right now).
username: kkkkkkkkkkkknnnnnnnnnnnn0000@t-online.de password: pppppppp
You find the login data in your T-Online envelope:
T-Online-Nr.: nnnnnnnnnnnnnnn ... Ihre Anschlusskennung lautet: kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Ihr persoenliches Kennwort lautet: pppppppp
Server for Internet Explorer/Outlook Express:
proxy (mandatory): www-proxy.t-online.de mail smtp: smtprelay.t-online.de mail pop3: pop.t-online.de news: news.t-online.de
Username and password: "anything" or whatever you want. You are identified from the radius server and not from your mail username.

| Sorry for the newbie question, but just got my DSL and T-Online account information. I have Win98 and used RASPPPoE to configure the DSL connection. I noticed in a previous post that it was not necessary to use the T-Online Software in order to access e-mail. My question is how do you alias your e-mail address without the T-Online Software? If this question doesn't make sense, this is what I'm trying to do... I'd rather have a useful e-mail address like smith@t-online.de instead of 0198763-0001@t-online.de (the default T-Online gives you). Another question I have is without the T-Online software how do you change your password?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Aldwin

| Re: T-online dsl and windows xp You find the t-online "Kundencenter" at
»service.t-online.de/t-on/kund/st···art.html
These pages will only work correctly, if you disable the proxy or put *.t-online.de on you proxy exclude list.
>how do you (change) your e-mail address?
Click on "Mitbenutzer verwalten" Click on "eMail-Name einrichten" Click on "eMail-Name (eMail-Adresse) einrichten" Enter your account password in the field "Web-Kennwort" Click on "Weiter" Enter the new alias in the field "neuer eMail-Name" Click on "Weiter" (If your alias is not available, try another one)
>how do you change your password?
Click on "Zugangskennwort" Click on "Weiter" Enter your old account password in the field "Ihr persönliches Kennwort" Click on "Weiter" Repeat your old account password in the field "Aktuelles persönliches Kennwort" Enter your new account password in the field "Neues persönliches Kennwort" Repeat your new account password in the field "Neues Kennwort bestätigen" Click on "Kennwort ändern"

Robert Schlabbach's RASPPPoE driver has it's own forum on this site
»RASPPPoE
You need exactly one PPPoE driver on your system. If your system works, it is not a good idea to change anything

Definitely not. Have you disabled the proxy? Which "Fehlermeldung" (error message) do you see, if you follow my earlier posted instructions?

I thought you could do it through their website. -- An American in Germany...

Yes. It's through their website, if the site isn't temporarily down. You may not use a proxy in your browser settings, because t-online need your real IP adress to identify you.
