Re: Nice timing for Google Net in KC said by xenophon:That's nice timing to tie into Google's 1Gb net (Gnet?) in KC. Only one segment though. Would hope they add a KC-Chicago link in next rollout. Gets one to wondering if maybe Verizon was tipped off ahead of time to Google's Kansas City decision. -- Record your speedtest.net results in DSLReports SpeedWave »www.speedtest.net/wave/afe201cb84d45c88 |

 | I was looking for VZ network map and couldn't find it. I did find this though, which shows a few dozen backbone maps. KC has a bunch of segments coming in from well more than half of them, geez. Couldn't find VZ map though. Wonder if all those trunks had anything to do with Google decision.

 | Yeah, saw that. It's the international map, not the US map. |

After much searching, I can only see the international Verizon map no matter what link is followed. Maybe until very recently, Verizon leased their backbone connections within the US from other providers. -- Record your speedtest.net results in DSLReports SpeedWave »www.speedtest.net/wave/afe201cb84d45c88 |

The backbone map is a bit of a mess as they're still working to merge AS701 (Legacy MCI/UUNet) and AS702 (Legacy Verizon). |

 | reply to Linklist I think VZ had this in the works for awhile and this "backbone"/longhaul network has nothing to with a local network(KC). |
