[SALE!] Chicken

Harris Teeter has store chicken leg quarters for $0.47 the pound! Also, Perdue Oven Stuffer Roasters for $0.99/lb. I wish I didn't have such a dinky sized freezer.

They usually have large family packs of chicken breast for $1.99/lb too so you never have to wait for a sale.

$1.99 is OK for breast, considering Perdue is outlandish for it. For store brand breast, it is essential to brine it for an hour or 2 to keep it from drying out. I prefer split to boneless...better flavor. Unless I am in a real hurry or feeling super lazy, I will bone it myself and save the extra $2+/lb convenience surcharge.

I prefer thigh as well. Much more flavorful and you needn't worry about overcooking it. And, it's way cheaper than breast (even store-brand split).

I'm making tilapia, sauteed green beans and red pepper, and linguine with garlic and breadcrumbs. I do the Meatless Fridays for Lent thing.
