This was taken by my friend on Cyberstation DSL. He ran the 2wire.com bandwidth meter 3 times and this was the highest reading he got. He is on Cyberstation 1.5Mbps / 128k CST DSL. As you can see hes not getting much better than 56k performance. I ran the same test with my DSL (from webfire) and I got a 675.3k reading, over 10times better than my friend on cyberstation DSL. My webfire DSL is 768k / 384k. While playing online games my friend pings 300 + to servers in dallas (which is a 2 hour drive from here) and i ping in the 20s. Webfire DSL is the only way to go if you want to get your money's worth. Here is the pic of my friends speed test.

| I believe it should be noted that the 2wire bandwidth tester isn't exactly the best out there. While it suffers from the usual things like internet congestion and the like, i also noticed that it can be "manipulated" to the will of the web surfer:
The link to the test results is 2wire.com/bandwidth/bmresult.asp?kbps=BANDWIDTH where the ASP script fills in the BANDWIDTH area with the value after testing. well, if one were to enter something like, oh, say 64.5 Kbps and claim that it was the speed that they got then it would display that in the screen. For instance, take a look at my "speed test:"

WOW! it appears that i have the fastest computer ever!
Who's to say that someone couldn't have fudged the previous posts like i did this one...
Also, i have Cyberstation and my speeds have been great since April when i first got it. this guy could just have a poorly-configured computer or some other interference. -- "Create something that is idiot-proof and they will build a better idiot." -- "Create something that is idiot-proof and they will build a better idiot." | This one WAS NOT FUDGED: A 2-Wire Test Result Not bad for: #1) a line that physically cannot carry more than 10000kbps, and #2) is capped at 3000Kbps down.
I can show you equally amusing results from at least 2 other test sites. |

| reply to Outrider drumstikks : We did not manipulate the 2wire test in ANY way. My friend and I both went there and I got a reading of 670something kbytes / sec so I KNOW it was functioning properly when my friend tested it 10seconds after I did. You are paying for 1.5mbps / 384k while mine is only 768 / 384 but i can guarantee you I will download faster, upload faster and ping better in online games (I upload at 70+ kbytes / sec while im only paying for 384k, im quiet happy about that) |
