kudos:18 | The game has two phases. Spring and Fall. You make your moves in the spring and then again in the fall. After the end of fall, whoever owns a territory, gains control.
So, you could take over my area in the Spring, but if I reclaim it in the fall, I never lost ownership of the area.
In-between the rounds, there's a brief time period for retreats/disbands/builds.
Every territory with a big old dot on it, adds +1 to your armies. Control a territory with a dot, and you get one. You don't have to stay on that dot, to keep it. It's yours once you own it at the end of Fall. Ideally, you want to expand to the easy areas, while protecting your own area from possible attacks, and when the dust settles, if you were successful in gaining new territories, advance on the weaker people.
Private communication is allowed. That's really where the game is made. There are alliances, broken alliances, etc.

Retreat and surrender, but keep one unit on the board and annoy everyone else with it. Then at the end of the game, claim that with out your 1 unit, the winner would not have won. |

it is correct, because Russia is also further from many resources. Though to be fair Russia has the biggest advantage on the board because of natural defense. Germany has the worst technically - sorry - because it is surrounded and has to fight with France and England for few resources. Natural path for Germany is to get control of Belgium and Sweden. --
