 | I have that actiontec modem working now and it is ok no problems for me. My old motorola 2210 died recently from busted caps so I had to replace it with something and didn't feel comfortable paying worst buy nearly $100 for the same old 2210 modem. Bought the actiontec for $49.99 from them instead.
I know someone that lives in a bad neighborhood, run down apts with old wiring and poor service for repairs. When someone calls him his modem resets but after they hang up it works again. He sometimes gets crappy speed and sync loss too.
Just before my 2210 died it would almost always lose sync and it would reset a lot too. Eventually it just kept restarting over and over again and thats when I took it apart and found the busted caps.
I wonder if the outside equipment for every dsl customer uses caps in their electronics too? Of course it does every electronic device has capacitors of some kind. Maybe something outside of your place is bad and they just haven't found it yet or don't care to find it. Maybe you are just a little too far away from the dslam or something else and it just won't work at xtreme speeds reliably but they didn't want to tell you that when you signed up.
I checked the actiontec site and there is no new firmware or anything like that so if you bought it recently like me you should get the latest version firmware with it. I haven't spent much time in the modem to see if it can restart on a schedule but I think you can get a program for your router to disconnect and then reconnect on a schedule. |
