Welcome to the Kerio-Tiny support forum. The guidelines of the forum are straightforward. We're here to support users of Kerio and Tiny security products. All questions and comments regarding Tiny PFW, Kerio PFW, and other products developed and distributed by Tiny and Kerio are welcome. So are links, tips and tricks, including other utilities and resources, provided strictly that they have a direct relationship and interest to Tiny or Kerio users.
General security questions and comments should be posted to the Security Forum. This includes firewall comparisons and so forth. The best rule might be phrased, "if you have doubts as you click whether this is "on topic," it's probably not" ... that's OK... if it doesn't belong, it will be moved to the appropriate forum, so everyone can benefit...
And that, in a nutshell, is why I'm making that part clear from the start. If we maintain our own general security resources, people not using Kerio or tiny won't benefit, or be able to participate. So, keep things on topic, and if you are in real doubt, either go ahead, and I'll move the post, if appropriate, or ask me, and I'll take a look.
I'll be one of you, just that I have the keys to the janitor's closet... so, for now, if you stick to the basic rules of DSLR, keep on topic, and remain cordial and civil, your posts won't be caught under the broom. If I have to, I can do the Hong Kong Phooey quick change act, and I know a pretty clever cat, too, though, just so everyone's aware... -- but I trust I won't have to hit the gong too often .
For the moment, the guidelnes are essentially the same as the guidelines in security and site wide, except that you have to stay on topic with the Kerio and Tiny theme. Oh... and a few details that bear special mention, here:
- Civility. Can't stress this enough. We won't just refrain from flaming, we'll refrain from trolling or feeding trolls, too. No exceptions. No further explanations.
- Bias will not be a part of this forum. We support Tiny and Kerio. We won't market them. We won't sacrifice our independence, under any circumstances. We'll report the good and the bad, and we'll do so level-headedly and impartially.
- There will be no posts or links to cracking techniques, warez, serials, or anything remotely black hat. We will remain a white hat forum in every regard. Just a reminder
- We will have fun.
- we'll all learn a lot.
- We will have fun.
- Supplemental guidelines will be posted here. Check in regularly to stay familiar with the forum guidelines ...
- oh... and, please, remember, I (as well as the other great helpers around here) am just a user, too, and I regretably can't devote my entire day's attention to the forum, here. Like everyone else, we have lives and have to earn a living, somehow, too... and find a few minutes to enjoy the rest of the site... I'll be very accessible, but I'll be relying on everyone to help out. I can't offer private tutorials, and I won't respond to IM's or e-mails for them. Please, post your questions. That way, everyone benefits, and you might get some help from someone a lot more experienced than I am in your particular issue... I'm just a host, here, I make no pretensions to being any sort of a guru... when you conduct private sessions, you deprive the group of the benefit of the discussion...
There. Now my first formal duty is performed. Gentlemen [and ladies] ... start your engines...
This is going to be the best resource on the internet, I can just feel it... we already have the best community to start out with! Thanks in advance!!! -- A man who carries a cat by the tail is getting experience that will always be helpful. He isn't likely to grow dim or doubtful. Chances are, he isn't likely to carry the cat that way again, either. But if he wants to, I say, let him. --Mark Twain

| addendum... a few Screen Shot tips...
»Post rule set ? (duh)
Reproduced in relevant part here:
In response to catManic Re: Post rule set ? (duh)
Try IrfanView. Free, takes a nice screenshot, and makes a fantastic viewer. It's a keeper... and I see a lot of people here are using it...
Just a few tips, if possible, since you mentioned it:
GIF is a good format - a very compact format ...
JPEG is fine, but save it at ~3-5 compression to quality ratio and preferably in baseline "standard" mode...
Sample at 72 dpi for any format ...
This will keep your filesize small without losing much clarity, and it has less chance getting lost behind a link in your post, instead of an attachment... not mandatory, but it makes posts easier to read... oh, and a reminder... if the screen is blurred, it's probably resized. Click the shot to view fullsize... or, better, right click and "open in new window," to follow the post...
hehe.. beat me to the punch, BlitzenZeus... ________________________ Posted by BlitzenZeus: Press Printscreen to capture your entire screen or Press Alt+Printscreen to capture the current active window

| reply to gwion addendum- out links and other forum features...
Please note that we have a drop down selection box in the upper right hand corner of our forum. I suggest that everyone keep an eye on the links, in there, as we'll have a lot of useful offsite resources linked there, from time to time, including permanent links to the FAQ, security forum, a HUGE ports list (the well known Neophasis archive, in fact), and the IANA list of assigned protocol numbers, for anyone working on per-protocol rules and needing a quick reference to the "other" types... also, it's always a good idea to check the latest CERT bulletins, to stay a step ahead of the "other guys."
Naturally, links to Tiny, Kerio and Securitae will always be made available, too... -- Aye, sun and moon and star, all, And further add to that That, being dead, we rise, Dream and so create Translunar paradise. | |
