Not exactly equal. If your favotire NHL team loses it's first 5 games it's season isn't over. If your favorite NFL does that, it is. |

Sunday Ticket pricing It seems that all of the blame is being placed on DTV for the price of Sunday Ticket, but no one is mentioning the price DTV has to pay the NFL, each team and the owners for carrying this service. I'm not on the side of DTV (I've been with DTV for over 11yrs, never had Sunday Ticket), but I do remember a while back when DTV renegotiated the contract with the NFL and they (the NFL) jacked up all the licensing fees. If i'm not mistaken DTV almost dropped Sunday Ticket. Also not to mention that Fox and CBS wanted more money from DTV for broadcasting their out of market games.
Is $350+ worth it, to me, maybe not but to some, definitely. Take the guy who once was a season ticket holder for the Jets. He now takes job transfer to AZ and now can not catch any games. He was paying $6k+ for 4 good seat tickets to watch his Jets. DTV gives him an option to catch every game for $350.
If you think the price is too steep, don't pay for it. Go to your local sports bar and watch the out market games. (that's be provided by DTV)

They OFFERED to pay the NFL $1 bil a year. They didn't have too. They wanted exclusivity. They could have Sunday Ticket for half that price if they shared it with cable and Dishnetwork. And now that cable and Dishnetwork customers can get Sunday Ticket now anyways Directv should have given up on exclusivity and saved $500 million a year. |
