I cannot access Lynksys RT31P2 admin page from a LAN PC
I have the following devices at home:
1) 2WIRE Bell ADSL modem/router
2) Linksys RT31P2 router/VOIP adapter, used only for VOIP;
3) A laptop connected on wireless to the 2WIRE box
The Linksys VOIP adapter (getting the IP 192.168.2.29 from 2Wire box) is connected to 2Wire as follows: LAN Port 2 on 2Wire connected with the Internet port on Linksys.
My laptop has a wireless connection with 2Wire and is getting the following IP: 192.168.2.23
Everything works (from my laptop I can browse the internet and I can access the 2Wire box via »192.168.2.1 and also the Voice Line1 on Linksys VOIP adaptor works, I have a SIP account configured with VOIP.ms).
My problem is that I cannot access the Linksys box from my laptop. The administration page for Linksys RT31P2 is »192.168.1.15 but I cannot open it. I get page cannot be displayed.
Is it because I'm on a different subnet? Or I have to modify something on one of the routers (choose static IP, open some ports, etc) ?
Temporarily connect PC to LAN port of Linksys and open admin page at 220.127.116.11
»www.mconnectinc.com/pdf/RT31P2-NA-UG.pdf See P.39, Remote Administration. Set up as desired.
Reconnect PC to 2Wire and access Linksys at 192.168.2.29 (on whatever Administration Port you selected, if other than 80).
Thank you for the reply.
I'm not at home to try but I don't think it's going to work.
That's because the Linksys VOIP router it's behind the 2WIRE router.
So If I open let's say the port 8080 on Linksys I will still be blocked by 2WIRE.
Anyway I will do a test today, after work.
The 2Wire will still block access from outsiders on the Internet. I assume that's what you want. From your laptop, the 2Wire is only acting as a dumb access point and switch, so traffic will pass through to the Linksys.
OK, I understand now. I will test tonight and post the results here.
It worked! Thank you very much Stewart!
Now I'm looking to configure the Linksys VOIP RT31P2 box to work with VOIP.MS, on Line1.
Hopefully google will be more helpfull this time .
http:192.168.2.29:8080/Voice_adminPage.htm and click on Line 1. From Voip.ms guide for PAP2 follow the steps 4,6,8.
