HAL.DLL is your Hardware Abstraction Layer DLL If this file gets corrupt or missing you are SOL.. The hal is first setup when Windows gets installed on your system. When windows is first installed on your system, windows examines all of your hardware componets(i.e. video card, chip set, processor, memory). This file is like a finger print of your system. When this file is created it will only work with your system, because it creates a ID number called SID(security identifier). If you try to install someone elses "hal.dll", windows will not accept it, giving you a denied access error because it looks at the sid in the hal to see if it matches your system. No 2 computers will have the same SID or HAL. The only way out of your problem is to do a clean install or recover that hall.dll from your recycle bin, or send your hard drive into a data recovery company to recover the file... -- »www.arts.arizona.edu/v2/ |

TOTCI only exist to make you cryPremium join:2001-05-16 Van Nuys, CA | amt257 is right.. HAL.dll is a really important file... maybe the only way to repair is to reinstall the file it self during REPAIR(since you will be doing a reinstallation the repair should configure itself to your system specifications and have a functionable hal.dll), or reinstall Windows... -- Can I Take That To Go?? |
