Sad but true. I bet that Hollywood will jump to claims that because box office revenues are down, it must be the pirates' fault. Not the fact that some of the movies that they put out last year were so bad that they were not even worth pirating, let alone paying to see.
I just hope that this box office revenue drop doesn't help them make a better case for their claims. Previously, it was kind of hard for them to argue that piracy is destroying their business when despite it, they were still posting record profits. This time, their lack of creativity has finally hit them in their pocketbooks. On the flip side, less money in their pockets leaves them with less to spend on lobbying for bills like SOPA and PIPA.
