[HD] Getting HD Channels
Been trying to get very basic channels like CNN HD, HLN HD, FNC HD, etc. When I tune to the HD version of a channel I already relieve I get a "not authorized" message.
1) I already have an RNG150N box. I assume this is an "HD box" because it has HDMI, component video and optical audio out. Comcast told me last month it's not an HD box and again today told me it's not an HD box. Is the Motorola Xfinity RNG150N an "HD box" or not?
2) I already get the channels I want CNN, HLN, FNC but not in HD. I pay $8.95 for "HD" on the bill. If I get a channel should I receive the HD version of the channel?
I assume all this is a provisioning issue because I can't even get QVC HD (I can get regular QVC)
Overall my experience getting a very basic service has been very COMCASTIC. Nobody at Comcast knows the right information... basic things like do I need a cable box or is my cable box HD.
gar187erI do this for a living
im guessing the hd code isnt on that outlet/box.....do you have more then one hd box?
I'm better than you!

Are you paying for HD service? Sometimes they give you an HD box because that's all they have, but the HD channels are not enabled unless you subscribe to the HD service.

If you bill shows the "HD Technology Fee", you should be able to get the HD versions. Call them and have them verify things. Your box may not have been updated properly.
It is an HD box:
Integrated MoCA networking
HDMI, Component, IEEE-1394, S-Video, Composite, Digital Audio (S/PDIF), Audio L/R, Ethernet, USB
1080p 24/30 video decode & output support
Well that doesn't explicitly say it supports Comcast HD service.
The bill also only says "HD" do I need to get "HD Technology" added? What would be the cost. And yes I have called. I was told the RNG150N is NOT an HD box, that messages of different types were sent to the box, and that they really didn't know what was wrong. When I requested the logical thing of removing the box and re-adding it to the account as HD I was told they could not do that. Overall a very Comcastic experience, as usual.
You would figure for $45 you can get CNN HD and QVC HD.
I had not heard of Business Class TV so a little googling revealed:
Note the very last sentence.

Yes tech came out today and informed me just because I get an SD channel and pay for HD doesn't mean I get the SD channel in HD. The HD fee only covers the local channels.
Why Comcast couldn't say this over the phone is beyond me... or why the sales rep couldn't sell the correct package is absurd. Had the correct information been disclosed I would have just ordered DirecTV.
Business Information $36.99
HD Fee $4.99
HD Fee $8.95
said by Comcast Sales Rep :--
if you want CNN and CNBC than you would need to order the Private View is $29.95 per month. Called Information and Entertainment package.
That's crazy. The $8.95 fee is what, for residential, is the HD Technology fee and covers ALL boxes and ALL matching channels.
