Is this a Frontier-issued modem? When the setup is complete does the modem have an IP Address from Frontier? Have you ensured that you got the PPP login correct for your area? |

Normally when you place a modem in bridge mode it does not pull perform the log-in function or pull the IP from the ISP. This is performed by the device that is immediately behind the bridged modem. In my case it is my Zyxel router. |

I just want to connect to the internet, But when I try the PPP info that frontier gave me in PPOE it doesn't Work and Shows Caution Yellow on action street lamp.
So I have a Netgear Now would I just set up that info on the Basic setting when it asks for If my Isp Requires Log in info? |

Are you absolutly sure that you should not be using DHCP or PPPoA? |
|
|
When I called the Tech Support and Asked for PPP info they gave it to me, But they dont Support any third party Modem.
I'll try PPOA AND DCHP. |

That's good. Is your connection solid? What protocol (PPPoE, PPPoA, DHCP) did it connect to the internet with? Or is it in bridge mode?? |
|
|
Well I had it in transparent bridge, And All I did was leave it a while and then it started working |

Is the PC that you are trying to log into the Actiontec connected directly to it or is there a router between the two? |
|
|
Its directly Connected, I tried to connect to router but wont browse or ident router. |

Nope No Luck I even reset it several times, and Tried to get to the menu to get to the setting, But it wont go.
It will load all kinds of web pages but when you put the modem address in it sits there stupid. |

Here is a previous thread dealing with setting up Actiontec ADSL2+ modem. The Instructions for setup should be similar. » [DSL] Actiontec GT784WN and FrontierI recently aquired one of the Actiontec GT784WN ADSL2+ modems with wireless N and It came up without having to even hit the Auto Configuration option. Some steps to remember are, while the previous modem is still hooked up, open the control panel, go to advanced settings and release (disconnect,) to release the current IP lease. Power off and remove the old modem. Plug in the new Actiontec, power up and it should pick up previous settings with very little manual input, if any. One thing to consider is, do you have the latest firmware edition for the modem installed ? If not, go to the Actiontec site and search your specific model # and see if there is a newer firmware install available. Blonde, a responder to the thread from the URL lives in hobart, In. and had no problems with setting up her actiontec. I followed the instruction she gave and had no problems having my new Actiontec GT784WN-01 up and running in less than a couple minutes. I hope this helps you some. |

Check your Control panel settings for your connection to find what you're synchronized at. eg: mine is currently synchronized at 3360/863 on the "up to 3Mbps" plan. Click on the "Status" Icon to find your current rate. Click on WAN Status for more detail to find your noise db, Line attenuation, etc... You may want to call Customer Support, Billing Support to see about reducing your plan if your modem isn't synchronizing at better than 3000+ down / ??? up. I doubt trying to get tech support to do anything about speed issues will be very productive since they don't support unix / linux OS's or the Actiontec line of ADSL2+ modem / routers. No point in paying for a 7Mbps plan if your area is being provisioning capped at 3Mbps. You can always call or e-mail your regional area supervisor to see what might be done to get close to what you're currently paying for. Squeakiest wheel is the one that get's greased. I contacted our Eastern Ohio Regional Rep. and was resynchronized from the previous, Verizon legacy speed of 1.5mbps to what it is now. Never hurts to try. If the bump it up to what you're paying for, great. If not, get a bill reduction and maybe a few credits. Got to love Frontiers' "legalese" on their HSI plans. No line speed guarantees, > Up To 7mbps ... nice loophole there Frontier. |
