Yep, and everyone said dreamcast was going to blow away PS1. Admittedly it was a more powerful console and had better games, but which prevailed because of popularity, not potential? |

Who said that? Sega never toppled anyone. Even the success of Genesis was short lived. Popularity and 100% HW support is what will drive XBox+PC gaming to levels that Sony could ever dream of.

X-Box is just a striped down PC, in which I would rather have full blown PC that can do other things than play games. Competition is good; besides everything will be integrated in the new future, so arguing now which console is better is pointless. |

The thing is it comes at a stripped down price. GeForce3 equipped at $300, cheaper than PS2 with BB. Not everyone has $1,500 to drop building a PC.
