Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 Dualband?

Im getting tired getting low speed due to many interferes around in my house.I swapped many routers and still getting low speed. I give up and order Turbo Plus with WIFI home service and have Motorola Surfboard SBG6580 mailed to my home this thursday. Does this gateway have simultaneous band? (Running 2.4ghz and running 5ghz at the same time?)

the Motorola only does one or the other, but not both. If you have an older router you can use it for the 2.4 and set the Motorola for 5ghz

that a great idea! I guess I can replace a switch hub with Linksys WRT54GL. I guessing I need to set Motorola SBG6580 to DMZ for Linksys. Does Motorola have that option?

No need for DMZ! You're still double NAT'ing at that point. You're better off if you're happy with the Motorola as a router to simply set up the Linksys as an access point, which pretty much means ignoring the WAN Port on the Linksys, disabling the SPI Firewall and shutting DHCP/NAT off on the Linksys.

what you mean ignore the WAN port? Do I suppose to uncheck the WAN port? I have it running Tomato.

Disable the dhcp and just hook the ethernet to lan 1 on the linksys and it becomes an access point. also assign a ip like 192.168.0.150 or something like that so you can access the router when you need to.

Well, umm, I also hook up my xbox 360(Lan 1) and Roku (Lan2) so, I still can plug ethernet(Lan 3) in Linksys from the Motorola?

very soon possible as TWC Texas is going to allow customer owned modems with DOCSIS 3.0 come next month.
