| [Network] Internet speeds slower on OS X than Windows 7 Hey everyone, I'm having a problem with my 15" MacBook Pro 2.2 i7.
The speed's in OS X 10.7.3 are much slower on WiFi when booted into OS X. The Max speed's I am able to get are 33mbit/s down on my 100mbit/s cable connection, and even the ping is higher on OS X. I have tried a full restore and still nothing.
When I boot into Windows 7, I am able to consistently place over 100mbit/s. I checked the MTU and its on Auto 1500. Anyone have any suggestion's?

I did the Option + click on WiFI and it says I am using 5Ghz and transmit rate is 430 |

Since you did a full restore, and it doesn't seem to be your wireless on your MBP since it works fine in Win 7, I'm guessing it may have something to do with your Router and/or it's settings.

How do you figure, he boots to Win7 on the same laptop and it's able to pull full speed.
It's the airport drivers in Lion, since the hardware performs fine in Win7.

Have you tried other speed tests or downloading a large file?
Try to download the 10.7.3 combo update off Apple's website and see what speed it settles to. Could just be that the speedtest works better in windows.
If you have another computer on your wired network, you could also try transferring a file to it and monitoring the speed. If you get more than 35Mbps, then something fishy is going on.

Flash You are using a Flash based test. Flash sucks on Macs.
Try going to testmy.net for a browser-based test.
BTW, where are you that you can get a 100 Mbps cable connection? Pretty impressive, even at 33 Mbps! |

Don't laugh because its kinda ridiculous that my internet is faster than most, and only cost $65 a month...

kudos:6 | testmy.net doesn't seem all too accurate either. Pegs my FiOS connection at 20Mbps and my school's connection at 9Mbps. On a regular file download test, I get 45Mbps on FiOS and up to 64Mbps on my school's connection.

Just for kicks and grins, get one of the cheapie dual band n Realtek USB wireless dongles and try it. They have their own OSX driver and don't use the Airport one. |
