I guess it's not fashionable to take advantage of promotions and stop tolerating the gouging.
Theres too many promotion hoppers out there who are jumping from one supplier to the other, Audet said...
If somebody else wants these undesirable customers, theyre theirs for the taking, he said.
The headline on that article says it all. They bled 9000 customers.
Truly, this is one very despicable company. Audet is an idiot. Customers are bailing on his company in droves, and what does he do in reply? Calls them undesirable and announces it was all his idea by making it even harder for people to do business with them.
Yeah ok.
The only reason their earnings were half decent - but still below expectations - was they sold off their Portguese experiment (Cabovisao) and since they'd already written it off, the money they got from the sale was considered revenue. Without that, analysts would be singing the blues and Cogeco would be taking a bath.
That's it. The gloves are off.

Their services, prices and attitude are what is undesirable. |

(actually I should say EYES, as this is visual innuendo to ME)
BTW, what does a 'DROVE' look like ?
Is that Ford's new model in response to the Chevy 'Whats-Name' whose ads are saturating us right now ?
EDIT : BTW, that new Chevy is called 'Cruze'. |

Did he mention TPIA ?
THAT's where those 9,000 subscribers went ! (not to B$ELL - THEY did poorly in DSL last year themselves - check their financials)
And TPIA is not a promo, buddy, it's a fact of life, and youse big corporations HAVE it because you ripped us off too much for too long !

We have only 2 things about which to worry : (1) That things may never get back to normal (2) That they already HAVE ! - START Forum »Start Communications Or you can still use Canadian Broadband.

| Seriously. This guy isn't happy shooting himself in the foot. He has to use a bazooka and make sure those little tootsies get blown clean off.
Does Audet have some sort of developmental handicap or something? I'm trying to understand how someone that wealthy and supposedly that educated could be such a dumbass.
Wait until next quarter when they bleed 9000 more customers and they don't have any more failing Portuguese investments to sell off to make up the slack. What's going to be the excuse then?
I smell a death-spiral in the making.
Seriously - Cogeco's shareholders should be worried. Clearly this is a gutless leader on a toothless, aging board of nincompoops.

MrClean132Sassy 'MedicPremium join:2000-08-28 Toronto, On | reply to dillyhammer Pay less, get more with a TPIA. Why wouldn't I switch? I also don't have to deal with the sass-filled Cogeco tech reps who think that by going 20 gigs over my paltry 60gb limit that I was crashing their entire network for everyone. Let's not forget we pay for that overage at some ridiculous cost per gig.
Cogeco was a great company back in the day when it was the 'Wave'. At least I thought it was. When I downgraded the home service to the lightest tier there was, and was told it was 40$ with no promotion was available for me even though I'd been a customer over 10 years. I promptly told her to send someone out to get the modem.
Hearing this story now coming from the top of the chain, I've never been more glad I left. I don't want to do business with a company with someone who believes their customers are 'undesirable'. We leave because there's a better choice in *every* way. If everyone from the bottom to the top doesn't treat or speak of the customer well, don't be surprised when we happily leave for a better provider.
It's not just me and other techy-like people. A lot of people on my street (who are mostly retirees) have even expressed exasperation dealing with Cogeco in all manners and have or are making the jump to TPIA providers. |

That's BS. Basically everyone is evaluating the bottom line and whoever has the best deal and the best bundling offerings, or the first time someone's hit with an overage fee, they look into non-overage suppliers. |

As opposed to Audet's world, where he and his family are too stinking rich to worry about prices, and their business model is predicated on "you have no choice we're a monopoly" and "if you use more data than that you're a thief". Now it's "if you whine about us gouging you and start looking elsewhere you're undesirable".
What a moron...
I guess getting his ass kicked by the Portuguese has really made this man stupid.

 | reply to dillyhammer I am about to switch over now that my contract is up. Will be getting roughly the same speed, more upload speed and a bigger cap for 15 bucks cheaper a month, TPIA wins again and I am gonna be undesirable. |
|
 | The article I read this morning said that they were tightening credit restrictions to retain customers. Ho does this retain customers?? People who pass the credit check (new or old guidelines) will still switch if some other provider is more to their liking. In fact, if they screen out more people, they will have fewer customers. This will backfire on them. |
