Network Vision is Here!

Well in some places Network Vision is live. Sprint recently upgraded a tower near by and I visited it to get some more information. The good news is that the tower was fully operational and the old antennas and coax were no longer in use. That means as Sprint upgrades each tower everyone around it will get a performance improvement. I wrote a quick article and took some photos for my webite if you are interested, »www.danlampie.com.

Interesting. If this works well it could mean more options for those without access to DSL or Cable internet. I have friends who use Millenicom's Verizon Wireless based broadband service, instead of the Sprint Wireless based service, because Sprint has no usable coverage where they live. The RRH move is a technical curiosity. Are the RRHs connected by fiber optics to the backhaul network instead of longer coax or is some other technology used?

I hope the RRH technology is reliable. Having all the radio electronics up on the cell tower could mean more climbs to make repairs. The old method is very reliable, not much to go wrong with a cable and antenna.

BTW Very nice photo of the equipment on tower.

Not only that it's a visual abortion

I see you are in Rochester. I live in the Buffalo area and am quite familiar with Rochester, and I'm in the area two days a week for work. Tuesdays I'm in the South Wedge and High Falls areas of the city, Fridays I'm in Pittsford, Victor and Irondequoit. Where is that tower located? I’d like to check it out if I have the opportunity and see what kind of 3G speeds I can pull in. On RT 96 just off the Bushnell’s Basin exit of 490 there is a Sprint tower that gives me nice wimax speeds. My record 18.5 Mb wimax speedtest was taken in the village of E Rochester by the Technoplex office Plaza. I’ve very intrigued by Sprints Network Vision, and it’s nice to see the Flower City get some early on love.

Does this mean that, that tower is LTE equipped right now?

For the future of our nation, we must unite and vote out the terrorist known as Hussein Obama. Come November 6 2012 we must remove the socialist pig out of office and get our country back on the RIGHT track.
