Re: Latency in Oklahoma City

Yeah I know its -15dBmV thru 15dBmV, but Cox Ocala doesn't want it under -12dBmV (or over 12dBmV). I assume there is a reason for that, probably because its too close to the 15dBmV threshold. That's like my upstream power used to hold at around 53.5dBmV, but it would spike up to 58dBmV and I'd be out of connectivity until it subsided.

Seems a reasonable thing to do - tighten up their own acceptable limits to be within the advertised limits of 3rd party equipment.

It makes sense and I'm glad they do it. They had to work on about 4 different telephone poles on my street for 4 days in a row before they found the signal problem, but when they did find it, they crushed it, my upstream is never higher than 46dBmV now. They even knocked on my door and asked for me by name (the only people I ever gave my name to was Cox support reporting the problem via e-mail, which I found impressive). I know from experience that high signal levels, at least in the upstream direction, cause some flaky things to happen, so I can only imagine that downstream is probably the same, if not worse.

The cox techs seem to have dissapeared, are they planning on any sort of resolution for this matter?

Or are they just ignoring it but this time not telling us otherwise.

I know alot of this information has been previously posted, but I would like some current (last couple of days) line quality test, ping plotters, and pings to your respective gateways from our OKC Post'ers. I need some new current data so that I can escalate these issue's again. I do understand all of your frustration and I/We want to find out exactly what's going on!! Thanks all.

acid - how about we unlock the caps key and also just reserve the thread for informational postings for a while? These guys are trying - and it's a lot easier to find the wheat when you don't have to sift through too much chaff.

LOL... I refuse to let it get that bad for me.

I figure I gave them enough of my time. Waiting over 3 weeks, calling and writing, to get a simple question answered by a manager at COX has gotten me to the point of saying...bye bye....

Will probably make the switch this weekend. Still trying to figure out the best way to replace my cable TV service. They'll lose me as a customer with phone and Internet. Wish I had an alternative to the cable out here though.... But once I find an alternative they will lose me as a customer for that too!

These tests go back to 5-30-2002.
Not much to complain about since that bad test on 5-30-2002.
When my test look like this, gaming online works great.
Hope this helps. Still watching in S.W.OKC. J.P.

I've had multiple truck rolls, Had the signal checked to the TAP. Even though the signal checked out fine, we ran a dedicated coax to the CM and left filters off.

This is the kind of loss i have been getting since Cox went from RR. Before it was RR everything was fine. Now i can't play online games because i timeout every 2 min or so for about 5-6 sec. Every server everywhere. It doesnt matter. Im sick of this shit and wish it would be fixed.
Ive read and herd just about every story from Cox. Trucks out to my house, tier 2 tech support. BUT NOYHING CHANGES
WTF people Why are they getting away with this.
