cannot connect to home wifi

My wifi has been working ok up until this past sunday. Now when I try to log onto my wifi it says limited access and that it cant detect an IP address. I can connect it using the cord and have tried it at the local coffee shop with no issue. We have another laptop that has no issues. We have tried almost everything to fix it with no luck. Help!!!

Sounds like the router isn't handing out IP addresses when you connect via wireless.

1. You can check to see if there is an option for DHCP via wiressless that has been turned off some how.

2. You can set a static IP address for your laptop when connected to your home wireless.

3. Replace the router.

I would just use the reset pin hole on the router and setup security again. If that doesn't work, you could try new firmware, but most likely you'll need to replace the router.

Sometimes a router hangs up and won't pass along DNS information, giving all the appearances of no WAN connectivity. Reset your router and configure it with your ISP primary and secondary DNS server addresses, and set your network adapter to do the same.

You could experiment with a different channel. I have about a dozen wireless networks near me, and sometimes I get enough interference to prevent a connection. inSSIDer will show what else is operating in your area.

Had the same problem a while back. I was using a very complex password. Changed it to something without any special characters (only alphanumeric) and it solved the issue.
No idea why it happens.

Today I saw something that reminded me of you. But don’t worry, I flushed and everything went back to normal.

Not in my case. I had 2 laptops connected, each set to log in automatically, no key typing required except the first time. Had been using the key for months and one day it just stopped working.
