 | Sympatico changed my Unlimited plan to 65 Gig 0ne Without my knowledge my Sympatico unlimited service was changed to 65 Gig/mth plan. 3 days ago I got a warning e-mail that I am reaching my download limit of 65 Gig. I went to Bell site and noticed that change was made on June 8 2012. Called Bell and asked who did this change, they just told me we will call you back as soon as we find out what happened. I am being charged $2.5/Gig right now. Any suggestions will be appreciated. |

 | Once you're switched out of your grandfathered plan, whatever the reason, I have never heard of anyone getting put back on it.
Switch to a IISP. There's no reason for you to be paying 80$ for unlimited 5 mbps. |
|
 | reply to magg123 I believe it's 25 gigabytes per month. With 5 dollars insurance it would be 50 gigabytes a month. Who told you 65 gigabytes per month? |

Unfortunately you are not alone, many others have been switched without their consent and offered little to no explanation. Good luck. |

 | I just cancelled my unlimited grandfathered plan and switched to Start Communications cable. Couldn't be happier. Faster, cheaper and although not unlimited, 300gigs a month I can live with. |

decxPremium join:2002-06-07 Vancouver, BC | reply to magg123 At slightly over $80/months users should definitely consider switching to one of the independents. With the independents you can get faster internet than the grandfathered HSE/Ultra package even with unlimited usage for less. Even the 25/7 DSL tier at unlimited would only cost only a few dollars more. |

I'd get that in a heartbeat if I was in Windsor! |

 | said by decx:At that price it's definitely the old 6Mb ADSL profile. Actually, it's a 7040/1024 ADSL2+ profile. From the stats I'm seeing though, a 15 Mbps profile isn't out of the question for a significant percentage of customers, so that may be coming in the future.
We recently removed all our ADSL1 line cards and ATM uplink cards from our DSLAMS and replaced them with ADSL2+/GigE uplinks, and direct GigE feeds from each CO to our main switching centre, so our aggregation network is ready and able to support increased speeds. -- MNSi Internet - »www.mnsi.net |

 | reply to magg123 Thanks for all replies. I did cancelled Sympatico service and switch to Distributel starting July 11. Got modem after 2 days of ordering the service. That's what they offer: Truly unlimited downloads Download speed up to 18 Mbps, upload speed of up to 512 Kbps No term contract Up to 5 email accounts 25 MB of hosting space for a personal web page for $43.95, modem is FREE
PS. BELL Sympatico called me twice, but I am already done with them. Told them at the end not to bother to call me beck with anything I am done with this crap |
|
 | I'm just curious, did they offer to give you your unlimited back? |
|
 | No, I spoke with 3 different people and all of them said it is not possible to came back to unlimited account because they do not offer such a service anymore. After first angry reaction I realized that they actually helped me to make a decision to switch. They called me twice, I didn't called back. I am done with Sympatico |

ayeros join:2011-06-13 Trois-Rivieres, QC | reply to magg123 Just a side note and sorry for my bad english. i worked at sympatico internet service as tech support and yes it is right they are unable to put old plan back simply because they have been removed from the system and we cant just use it anymore. |
|
 | reply to magg123 think of it this way, you could have got switched to the 15 gig plan |
|
 | Sorry to hijack this thread, but my question is fitting. Should changed from my Sympatico Grandfather plan and if so to Unlimited Cable Internet 15 (Distributel) or TekSavvy Extreme Cable 15? My real concern is if they are True unlimited or are Throttled/Timed as their both 15$ cheaper (80$ GF plan) and have 3 times the download speed as well as better upload. |
