So, I've been disconnecting a lot from the internet because my power level is too high, causing my modem to restart. I tried directly connecting my modem to the first jack and I got a power level of 45 dbmv. Is that too high, is the problem inside or outside? |

53 is borderline high, but unless it's fluctuating it shouldn't really be a problem. 45 is not a problem coming in the house. Is the modem on a 7dB leg of a splitter? Are all devices (boxes too) running at a similar or worse signal level? If it's running through a 3.5 dB splitter direct to the modem and is changing level by 8 dB, then you have a problem inside, splitter/coax/modem. |

53 transmit on a docsis2 modem isn't likely to cause reboots. Probly something else. Does the transmit fluctuate different times during day by much? Is the wire coming to your house from within a few years old? Did you change anything inside? Connectors tight on all splitters, wall plates(behind wall plates) boxes etc. |
