 | Is You Galaxy Nexus THIS Buggy And Sucky? Long story short: I changed cellphone provider (Rogers) because they were making up inflated bills and overcharging me, I went to a cheaper more honest cellphone provider (Wind).
Wind runs on AWS frequency which my beloved iPhone 4 does not support but the Galaxy Nexus does. I had to get a Galaxy Nexus on Wind.
I love the phone's huge screen and the fact it doesn't have to use garbage iTunes to put music into it or import pics to my PC but the phone is extremely buggy and slow. About 33% of the times the touch screen does not respond on first touch like the iphone 4 did. The loudness of the speaker SUCKS, a cockroach would make more noise than the pathetic speaker which Samsung geniuses placed on the bottom which means that when the phone is placed down with the screen facing the sky (as it should be) you cannot hear it ringing
One of the most annoying things is that the tilting of the screen is slow and takes forever. For example say I'm looking at a picture and tilt the phone sideways to see it in wide-screen the phone does not go to widescreen until about 6 seconds later I also hate the layout of the contacts and they made it extra difficult to go to your contacts and call some one immediately, for example I have to click 3 times to phone someone, on the iphone I only clicked the contact name once.
The text message layout is so archaic and boring that I had to download a text message app so if I missed a text message it would be displayed in a big blue box on my screen just like the iphone 4 does.
The battery life also sucks, less than the duration time of my old iphone 4. My phone is running on Ice Cream Sandwich, will Jelly Bean fix these annoying and inexcusable bugs? What if I get the Galaxy 3 S, will I encounter the same bugs? |

If anything, you would experience more "bugs" in the SGS3 because it has TouchWiz. |
|
 | So you are telling me that you have a Galaxy Nexus without these bugs? Hard to believe. |

bionicRodFunkier than a mohair disco ball.Premium join:2009-07-06 united state kudos:1 | I have a SGS3 and have none of those issues, TouchWiz or not, except for the speaker being on the bottom of the phone. When watching video you have to set it up against something or it will be muffled. I can hear the ringtones and message alerts without any trouble. If you miss a message there's an envelope on the lock screen that lets you know.
My better half has an iphone4 and wants my phone. I've never used an iphone so I couldn't tell you which is better though. |

 | I think the Samsung Galaxy Nexus comes with a poor and lame interface because most people customize it anyways, after I downloaded some text message and missing calls apps I made it look and behave like an iphone 4. After I installed a weather widget (with my local weather) and a huge ass clock I think it looks way better than my iphone 4 ever did but these bugs are making me dislike it more every day.
P.S. Okay how do I go about installing Jelly Bean to my Nexus? I'm computer illiterate so if it involves "flashes" and "rootkits" don't waste your time telling me that, can I just take it to a unlocking cellphone shop and pay someone to install Jelly Bean? |

It sounds like you're on Wind, from the OP, so it would be GSM.
If it's GSM, it should have gotten an OTA update to JB. Go to the settings and check for an update. I got my update a few minutes out of the box.
Reboot and try this:

 | reply to Xstar_Lumini My Nexus S running Cyanogenmod 7.2 is just fine. I have one astronomy program that has a slight problem on ICS so I'll stick with 7.2.
I bought it used, and have no idea of its history. It just works and works my way.
I like "Plain Jane" apps. |

GSM phones bought from samsung, or carriers are still subject to samsung testing/carrier testing respectively before updates are pushed |

 | reply to Xstar_Lumini I too have a Galaxy Nexus, and have experienced none of these problems you are describing when I was on ICS, and now on JB.
Seems to me that you are just an iPhone lover, and if it doesn't look/feel/act like your beloved iPhone, you are always going to have complaints about it. You are constantly comparing the GNex to your iPhone, even going as far as downloading a text messaging app to look more like the iPhone interface. So if you love it that much, just go buy an unlocked iPhone that has been modified to run on Wind's network, and be done with it, becuase barring actual issues with a possibly defective handset, it really doesn't sound like you are open to experiencing and enjoying the merits of anything other than an iPhone. Just doesn't seem to be your cup of tea. -- "I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use." - Galileo |

| reply to Xstar_Lumini The only issues I can relate to is the loudness of the speaker, which is less than desirable and the battery life. I do use an extended battery, so that helps some with the battery life issue. --

HossSauters A Walrus join:2000-10-05 Tulsa, OK | Have only had my Gnex now for about four days, but I will say I love the interface, but can agree that the speaker is way too quiet. For now I'm overcoming that by amping up my mp3 ringtones by about 8db.
Coming from the Atrix though, I love this phone. I also like that it's unlocked and I don't have to be locked in to using AT&T if they piss me off come contract expiration date. |
|
 | JB will fix all of that. I can definitely say that the JB update increased the volume of the audio all around, significantly! |

CM10 based on jellybean overclocked to 1536mhz on the cpu and 537mhz on the gpu. Three hours of screen on, the wifi graphs are wrong I always forget to shut wifi off before I leave for work. So 20 of those hours are on data. All on the small 1750 mAh battery that ships with the gsm nexus. This is the best device I've owned hands down. -- Some people are like Slinkies. Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs. |

 | There are apps that you can use to save battery usage and turn off wifi automatically and other stuff. Personally I use Juice Defender.
And as far as the OP. Mine is fine. Still running stock ICS on VZW w/ minor issues. |
