Because 6to4 relies on anycast routing, through equipment operated by arbitrary third parties. Its performance and reliability are unpredictable, and problems are difficult to debug.
A few years ago, there was an effort to de-prioritize 6to4 in the major OSes and browsers. You can see the results in the declining red line here:

The neutering of 6to4 was one of the changes that made World IPv6 Launch possible.
