[Eastern Ontario] Email malfunctioning

Our email has been malfunctioning. Get the typical message - Unable to send or receive etc etc. Likely cause network problems etc etc.

We have about 5 email addresses. I connects to a couple, but not the others.

Hopefully someone is adressing this

Otherwise, we still have web access and our TV is working

yes, im getting the same problem with email, cannot send or receive since 745pm tonight. Im in the Niagara region

Still same problem. Email servers not working.

Webmail not working either - either hangs up or says email/password is wrong.

Service outage link says that if TV/Internet/Phone is not working that they know about it and have done so since 5:30pm yesterday. Don't know if email outage is same problem.

Just glad we don't have Cogeco phone!

4pm Sunday - Still not working.

Occasional email comes through.

Sometimes it gives usual error about network problems

Other times it asks for username/password

Anyone from Cogeco here that can advise when this will get fixed?

Working intermittently for me. Pegasus keeps popping up messages that it can't connect with POP3 server, but messages eventually get through.

My Email is not responding this morning (Aug 27/2012) at all, and for the past week or so it's only worked about 30% of the time I've tried it.

I hope they are working on fixing the problem.

Cogeco email servers still down since Sunday August 26th. I phoned them twice and the have no time frame when it will be fixed. Usually get wrong password error.

Stiill not able to access my cogeco email (send or receive) ..the problem has been ongoing since early saturday evening. Im in the Niagara Falls area.

Mine hasn't worked this morning at all either. I was pretty close to canceling this account anyway, so this might be the push I needed.

Has anyone else for the last few days been having issues with there email asking for passwords periodically when you check your emails?

Yes and I reset new passwords and it still fails.

This might be a wide spread problem.
Maybe the pop.cogeco.ca server has a virus or froze or blew up or something. haha

Hello everyone.

We are working on a server issue that is causing connectivity issues to a potion of Cogeco email accounts. This issue will be impacting both Webmail and POP3 connectivity. I will try to provide updates as soon as they become available.

Well its still not working. Don't Cogeco have backup servers?

Is there anything we can do to switch servers? Currently using pop3.cogeco.ca

Re message from Marcer. Finally some info from Cogeco as to what's going on with the email. Would save a lot of frustration if Cogeco would simply just put up some details on their web site.

Hi Marcer: I would never have found that "outage" page by myself. My suggestion is that Cogeco have a notice on the main cogeco.ca site.

I noticed this morning (Aug 27) that my e-mail and webmail aren't working. I got the "wrong Password" message as well. Now, I can't even get on to the Cogeco website. It's really slow to load. The rest of the Internet is fine.

It's working but it keeps saying there are no new messages on the server. Somehow I highly doubt that is true. I just emailed myself from Hotmail to my Cogeco email so I should at least get one message.

So Update...

The email platform covers all of Ontario, so the alert is posted for all cities, however only a portion of the email accounts are impacted, this is why some users are reporting some of their accounts are working, and others are not.

Also, regarding new emails to the impacted accounts; they are being queued, not bounced. Once the issue is resolved we will be processing the queued mail for delivery as quickly as possible.
