Beamen join:2009-05-14 Miami, FL | [Speed] Blast Speeds on new account I switched over to comcast about a month ago because of Blast pricing and speed (30Mbit vs my old 24Mbit). I've noticed that with powerboost, i initially download around 35-36 mbit/s then the speed drops down to 25-26 mbit/s.
Is this normal for the Blast tier, or should it settle closer to 30? I've attached images of signal and bandwidth.

 | reply to Beamen The original speed is 25Mbps but with PowerBoost there is an increas of "Up to 30Mbps" i guess depending on servers traffic:
Blast Original: (25 Mbps/ 4 Mbps) Power Boost: Down to 30 Mbps + Up to 6 Mbps |

| reply to Beamen I thought PB was uncapped? As in for the first 20 mbps, you could theoretically see 304mbps given the right equipment and system (albeit that's highly unrealistic, 50 is probably more realistic for that small amount of file transfer allowed under PB).... |

Comcast capped residential PB some time ago. Business appears to be uncapped still though, provided you're on 22/5 or below. 50/10 and up has no PB. I just did a test on my 22/5 connection (was 50/10 until a couple of weeks ago), and it hit 82/22. On 50/10, it was fixed at about 53/11.
I know a few people in my area with D3 modems and Blast, and they get exactly the same PB/non-PB speeds as the OP. -- KI6RIT |
