Hawaii Five-O vs Hawaii Five-0

Despite being on the same time and channel as previous years, has anyone else noticed that their DVR is not automatically recording tonights season premier like previous years? It seems that the guide data now uses a capital "O", not a "0" (zero).

This doesn't surprise me. I remember years ago, when I still used the Verizon DVR, that when the listing changed from "Tonight Show" to "The Tonight Show" (or vice-versa) my DVR stopped recording it.

I just checked the program guide and "Hawaii Five-0" is correctly "spelled" with a zero. I am in Jamaica, NY - 11432.

Perhaps the spelling change was opposite from what I described, but it definitely changed from what it was last season. It took me a while to figure out why my DVR wasn't going to be recording the new season.

Wish I had seen this earlier, I missed last night's recording.

I was wondering why it wasn't recording! I Had to manually set the DVR to record the episode

H5-0 got stomped in the ratings last night. Big decline from last season. I wonder if this had anything to do with it.

Overnight ratings have nothing to do w/DVR recordings -- they are added in later, so I'd have to say no.

I always check my series recording each season. Screw-ups have been common with Verizon and with other providers (I, for example, previously had Dish and saw the same thing).

Whoever provides the guide data (FYI?) probably flags the new season differently then the old.

Its will be difficult for any show to compete with The Voice, as it gains traction. I liked Revolution (which I watched when it was available on-demand before it aired). M&M is one of our favorites. The lack of 2 1/2 Men before M&M will definitely hurt both M&M and H-5-O. I still don't get what people like about 2 Broke Girls. I've seen two or three episodes, and each time it felt contrived and barely laughable. Dancing with the Stars is good enough for FF'ing to the results, and perhaps a few highlights/lowlights.

Wrong -- the most commonly-reported numbers are "live plus same day" numbers. So anybody who would have watched by 3 a.m. on their DVRs should have been counted, but perhaps wasn't.

However I'd say that if the problem was limited to Verizon DVRs and the horrible, worthless guide data from the horrible, worthless FYI Television Inc. provider, then that probably wasn't enough to affect the ratings significantly. Does the pathetic, useless FYI provide guide data to any other companies? AT&T maybe?

So, KCrimson is probably right that it was just competition from Revolution, etc.

As for Two Broke Girls not providing a good lead-in, it wasn't down from the ratings that the sharply declining, equally-hacky and lame 2.5 Men was turning in by spring 2012.

(BTW, I'm not a H5-0 fan. Just an interested observer.)

NCIS actually beat the voice last nite 4.1 to 4.0 in 18-49.

Ok, so it includes "same day" DVR viewing, but how many people are going to be watching a 10:00 p.m. DVRed show on the same day?

Actually, I do that fairly often. It lets me skip through the commercials. Last night I recorded it and started watching it at around 10:20, skipped through the ads and watched until the end which was a little after 11:00. Then just deleted it. Before I started watching H50 I caught up with some earlier recorded programs I hadn't gotten around to yet.

But I'm sure this approach isn't very common.

Edit: I try to not watch anything "real time", even if I'm watching it the same day/night it is showing. I record everything to avoid ads.

I noticed something strange with CBS last night and I don't know if it has anything to do with the Hawaii Five O issue. But here's what I noticed:

When I opened the program guide around 8:30pm it showed a check mark on Survivor as if that show was recording. Which is odd because I don't record that show, and when I looked in my recorded programs list it wasn't there.

I have Criminal Minds set up to record as a series, and for whatever reason, I woke up this morning to find that it did not record. I verified the show was still listed in my Series Manager.

So I don't know if there was just odd stuff going on last night with recording CBS shows.

I've had a few instances like that this week also. I think Survivor was one of them, as was The Voice. Neither of which I have ever recorded.

Same here, except for me Criminal Minds did record properly. All night I was watching previously recorded shows on the DVR – don't know if that made any difference.

I think the problem is some shows like survivor ,the voice, and dancing with the stars are set to run 1 minute longer! and if you have 2 tuners set to record after those shows 1 of those shows wont record. I had to go into my menu on my tivo and set a manual recording of dancing with the stars to stop recording 1 minute early!!. after that it recoded hawaii five-0 and castle without a problem! castle was schedilded to start at 10:01 p. m. but my tivo wouldnt let me set up a recording for hawaii five-0 which was scheduled to start at 10:p.m. until i went into the menu and did a manual recording of dancing with the stars and having it stop recording 1 MINUTE EARLY!!!

Scheduling conflicts on the FiOS DVR show up with a warning triangle informing you of the conflict. The name change was the reason for the H-5-Oh problem, I don't know about the other shows people had problems with.
