Re: Using remote desktop to assist elderly father Thanks people. I have installed TeamViewer and will get my Dad to install it tomorrow. Sounds like it will do the trick. |

Note that you can setup TeamViewer as a service on your dad's computer so its always running as soon as the computer is turned on. That way your dad does not need to worry about starting it, etc. You can also setup a predetermined password so he also does not need to communicate that back to you.
I have both my wife's Win 7 Home Premium computer (on the other side of the house) and a sister-n-law's computer (across town) setup that way so I can simply login as needed.
Obviously you want to use a strong password and document that password, although that can be changed on your dad's end at anytime if need be.
Lastly if you create a TeamViewer account you can sign in and access your dad's computer via a web browser (IE for example) from any computer. Handy if your traveling and don't have your laptop handy. TeamViewer also has a app for the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch or Android device. |

From the teamviewer website, it looks like that option comes only with a paid account? |
