| memory upgrade I am in the process of upgrading a computer which has an Asus M4A785-M MB. what memory do you recommend?
The specs for memory are:

In my opinion, at $79.99 per stick, it is really not worth upgrading. Compared this to DDR3, you can get 16GBs for less: »www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a···20231309
If you are going to get 4 sticks, it will cost you $320 which is equivalent to a new mainboard, CPU and RAM. |

I strongly advise you purchase the DIMMs from Crucial directly*. You can buy other brands if you want -- YMMV -- but avoid Corsair.
You will need to weigh the costs of upgrading the system from a DDR2-based motherboard (to a DDR3-based motherboard) vs. paying for DDR2 RAM. Right now DDR2 is expensive (and for absolutely no justified reason whatsoever -- it doesn't cost more or less to manufacturer compared to 6 years ago), so be prepared to see prices much higher than DDR3.
* - Edit: Crucial is the customer/retail-facing division of Micron (the DRAM manufacturer).
