Re: [iPhone] Bigger Fail Than Maps ...

btw - what can a galaxy tab or transformer prime do that an iPad cannot? I mean aside form downloading porn apps.

SD cards (expandable storage). Keyboard and mouse (in the case of my transformer, makes it VERY usable for productivity). Keep your wallet a little thicker.

Personally haven't found a need for more storage that 32GB iPad (had a 64GB iPad 1 and didn't feel the need to stay that big for the 2) - and with cloud based storage it really just hasn't been a need.

I got a Logitech Bluetooth keyboard case for my iPad for charting at work - so I do agree it's a sometimes useful thing - but is easily available for iPad. Haven't needed or wanted a mouse but I do have a stylus for charting more efficiently.

Both my 64GB iPad 3 and 64GB iPhone 5 are consistently full and if not for iTunes Match I would be seriously screwed in terms of being able to carry my media content. With my transformer, I have 32GB onboard, plus a 32GB micro SD and in the keyboard dock another 32GB full size SD.

BT keyboards suck ass with the iPad. I easily out type them and have to wait for them to catch up...not so with my physically connected Transformer dock with integrated trackpad which turns my Transformer into a handy netbook with 14 hour battery life. Worse, no pointing device for iPad, so when you have it propped up on a stand you still have to reach up to point rather than being able to mouse-about. Bad for productivity apps like Numbers, Pages and remote desktop apps. Remote desktop back to a Mac or PC on the 1920x1080p Transformer with a real keyboard and mouse is pretty sweet.

I wish a serious dock system was available for iPad like the one available for the Transformer, nearly as much as I wish the Transformer would run an OS other than horrible Android.

You should check out the Logitech keyboard - I easily type between 60-90wpm on it without lag.

I should add you carry around a LOT of stuff if you're filling up to 96GB worth of media cards! I guess I just keep a work-out music playlist on my iPad and a bunch of PDFs and other work related stuff and then stream movies over Netflix & Hulu, so 32GB is plenty for me for now.

I have a Dinovo Edge and out type it with ease. On Mac and PC the Dinovo is great but BTKBing sucks with the iPad. I also tried a couple of my crapbox BT keyboards, an adesso and some Fry's junk I can't even remember the name of, all them them pause randomly and I have to stop and wait. And even then, without a desktop pointing device, the iPad is still limited for productivity (which is why I have a Macbook Air).

I like the TF's ability to be a tablet or a ultrathin 14HR netbook. If only it didn't run such a shitty OS, it would be awesome. Too bad Microsoft won't license Win 8 RT for non-OEM devices.

I really expected a 128GB iPad this go around. 64GB doesn't cut it. I keep lots of movies and TV shows on mine for watching when I'm at the gym or stuck waiting for something.

Wifi or tethering at the gym FTW :-P

That 128GB iPad has to be coming sooner or later.

Would be interesting if Apple did allow for a mouse on the iPad - Would make it more of a laptop replacement for many.

No wifi at my small gym...I use Clear's unlimited WiMax for 8-12Mb service. $50 and truly unlimited, at least until Clear goes bankrupt.

Yeah they didn't have wifi at my for the longest time - used the 3G on my iPad or tethering from iPhone for the longest time. That's why I was so happy to see tethering made part of the family share plans!

I actually use a Microsoft Bluetooth keyboard with my iPad 1, no joke. It works perfectly, although I've had to "discover" which of the modifier keys (Control, Alt, etc.) had which function on iOS.

When it comes to input lag and other weirdness with the keyboard, I've found almost every time that it comes down to the app I'm using. QuickOffice, for example, is completely unusable with a BT keyboard on the iPad 1 due to massive input delay. DocumentsToGo, on the other hands, works great. The WordPress app used to get extremely laggy once you'd typed more than 3 or 4 paragraphs but I haven't had that problem with the latest version(s) of it.

I've done a fair amount of word processing on the iPad with this keyboard and it's mostly been quite acceptable.
