[NV] Cox Internet continually dropping in Las Vegas area

Internet drops randomly and occurs daily. It seems to happen more often around 3:00 PM and 12:00 AM-3:00 AM. When the Internet goes out, the US light goes out and blinks, and then the Internet light goes out. It does not come back until I hit the restart switch on the back of the modem. What's the deal here?

Modem model is SBV5220 and the router is F9K1103 v1.

Nothing immediately jumps out - I've added your modem to our more frequent diagnostic poller and will hopefully catch something the next time it happens.

Let me know at what time (relatively precisely, if possible - within a minute would be great) the next time you see this happen is and I'll go back through things and see if we can't see some reason for it.

I went and looked, and we actually did a lot of maintenance activity in your node the past couple days - I believe the 10:23 drop was part of that. It looks like it is wrapped up now (and the levels and error correction counts don't make me a sad engineer any more), so let me know when/if it happens again - I still have you in our monitoring system.

I got a HUGE lag spike at 8:05. US and DS lights went off and then reset after 30 seconds. This is really getting frustrating when playing games.

We have techs out trying to chase down a very intermittent issue in your node - the new ticket was opened yesterday and they're continuing to try to chase it down today.

We're working on it, but I can't give an ETA - intermittent problems like these are time consuming to fix (have to get the problem happening long enough to give the tech enough time to trace it down).

Getting lag spikes at 7:45 PM

EDIT: I just did a speedtest. It's slower than it usually is at night.

The modem went out at 10:26 PM and then booted back up at 10:28 PM. The TEL 1 light began flashing afterwards (it's usually consistently lit).

Running into upload outage in my area on my Motorola SB5120(only model that works on my part of the line for some reason). It's been happening around 11am-2pm and 10pm-2am give or take some time over the past couple days.My downstream seems to be fine but, my upload is non-existent(I would post the speedtest.net but, upload won't go.) I've tried tests both on and off my D-link DIR-645 router with no difference. At most I can only upload small images and in video games my position doesn't update quickly and rubber bands like crazy.

I also live here in Vegas. I don't know if the modem is the one that's causing the problem here. Initially when I signed up with COX 3 years ago. I had to purchase a refurbished modem from them. It was also a Motorola Surfboard. This modem would give me inconsistent connection. When I changed my modem into a linkys cm100. All of a sudden the connection became more stable.

I came to dslreports tonight to learn whether regular T3 errors were common. Apparently they're not a good sign. Here's what I get:

No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=00:22:[snip];CMTS-MAC=64:00:[snip];CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

Yesterday, those were coming several times an hour, according to the logs. I've had 2 in the last 30 minutes. I also get:

SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync
Lost MDD Timeout
Cable Modem Reboot due to MDD Loss
TLV-11 - unrecognized OID

A tech was here two days ago because we had gone completely dark. Now we're back online, but the error & reboot cycles are more frequent than before. Could my modem be faulty?

DCC = Downstream Channel Change - your modem is shifting to a new channel for load balancing, and is something that was fixed in DOCSIS 3 (by virtue of doing the channel bonding, you're never reliant on a single channel at a time).

If you want to PM me your cable MAC, I can see if there's any reason you're getting those more than usual, but a few times a day, especially in the evening when the channels are busiest, are Just Going To Happen.
