Poor Latency, download speed okay,Mendocino County, CA.

It's been like this since Friday or so-

Like I said, the download speeds are great, but latency is HORRIBLE. Also, uploads are down, they are normally in the 5.5-6 Mbps range.

Is anybody else in our area seeing this? You can really see the latency when browsing the web, though on tracerts it looks normal. San Jose is 150 miles south, not 50, crazy Comcast lol

Did you try any other servers a tad further away? I ask because the closes server to me always yields not so favorable results.

I haven't, but I'll try that, thanks bro! Usually I get the best results from that server though.

I tried their Pima, AZ, Salt Lake City, UT and Portland, OR servers, but they all show the same latency and slow upload issues-

Lol Yeah, crazy huh? Downloads are great, but uploads are cut in half and that latency, wow, it's weird that it doesn't show up on tracert's too.

Check your PMs. Can you post a Tracert to say Apple or Google?

For some reason, BBR isn't let me post tracert's over a certain length, or I'd post more. However, they all look normal like that one.

Whoa, my downloads have gone way up!

I have NEVER seen downloads that fast on Blast, they have always maxed out around 37 Mpbs. Which makes me wonder, are they bringing the new speeds to our area soon, and is the latency seen on the speed tests and on browsing related to that work?

I had some issues browsing last night, but I figured it was my phone acting weird on WiFi. It seems to be perfect right now.

Yay for heavily-skewed-by-PB tests, it's the usual 22/5.

Not out here in Redwood Valley, the latency is definitely still there in web browsing, and in the speed tests-

I notice too it shows the correct distance to San Jose for you at 150, it still shows 50 for me. Whatever the issue is, it's between Redwood Valley and the CMTS in Ukiah.

DiffProbe release. January 2012. Build 1008.
Shaper Detection Module.

Connected to server 80.239.142.234.

Estimating capacity:
Upstream: 1099 Kbps.
Downstream: 35585 Kbps.

The measurement will take upto 3.0 minutes. Please wait.

Checking for traffic shapers:

Upstream: No shaper detected.
Median received rate: 1120 Kbps.

Downstream: Burst size: 19872-20315 KB;
Shaping rate: 26469 Kbps.

Shaper Probe doesn't look all that great either, especially on the upload.

I've had some occasional issues with low upload results with ShaperProbe. Close it and try again.

I tried the Comcast test again just now and got nearly identical results as my last test.

I probably sound like a dork for asking you this, but have you tried it without your router? It's strange that you're getting high latency in the test, and in web browsing, but not traceroutes; maybe it's a router configuration issue.

As for posting traceroutes, try using code tags around it.

Nope, same thing with or without the router (Asus RT-N66U), I think it's a problem with the Node or the interface at the Ukiah CMTA.

Well, the latency is still showing up in the Comcast tests, though latency is better on web browsing. Also, Powerboost seems to be gone from my uploads, I always got around 6 Mbps up before this started, now it maxes out at 4.

The latency issue is also showing up in the non Comcast speedtest.net speed tests as well, though speeds show up as even worse to them-
