[FiOS Phone] Try your call again

We are getting these messages on voice mail system, Please hang up and try your call again. This happend more than once and to date it only occurs when we do not answer the phone.

It seems fishy to me, but I can figure out what the scam is.

any ideas

Thanks

No, that was for an outgoing call in the call log eventually traced to someone who was using the phone inside.

This one is where the answering machine picks up and records part of an automated message "please hang up and try your call again".

I've heard them from time to time as well. I think it's either a robocall gone awry (automated call coming in expecting a button press 1 for more details),

or one of those pbx autoforwarding calls that let the caller connect locally then dial out from the same system. »www.tdsbusiness.com/resources/ad···raud.pdf FiOS is not pbx, so I don't think this applies.

Or forwarding done by trickery. »www.kfiam640.com/pages/NEWS.html···10389043

If the voicemail is date/time stamped, you may get a clue by looking at your call log.
