Canada Post website gone

Click for full size
canadapost.ca gone
»www.canadapost.ca/

Been tracking a package since Thursday.

Get up this morning, check to see where it's at.

Network Solutions jacked the site.

Am I missing something?

Huh?

You mean to tell me when you go to canadapost.ca you see Canada Post's website?

Oh. Well then. That just stinks to high heaven.

When I use Teksavvy DNS, I get the Network Solutions page.

When I use Google DNS, I get Canada Post.

Lesson learned.

Mike

I get the network solutions website too over ebox.
WHOIS says the site expires on 2013/02/21, so not sure what's going on here.

Ah. Seems to be a much larger problem then.

Wow.

And of course, seeing as how Network Solutions is involved, I'm not the least bit surprised.

I can reproduce the Network Solutions on one of our nameservers but not on the others.

Clearly something is up with DNS. I imagine it's fixed by now but cached data is probably out there.

Investigating.

The problem is with canadapost's DNS hosting provider, "chwhs.com", whose domain expired on the 31st, I would bet, but ~just~ updated whois 30 minutes ago. I'd bet they expired and renewed in a hurry. :)

Yeah, I phoned Ali (the registration contact for canadapost.ca), this morning and let him know that the website for Canada's entire postal system was down. That was, like, 9am.

Love the way the Network Solutions dirtbags have no qualms plopping a traffic squatter page in place. Still revolting after all these years.

/tinfoil hat on

It was probably the MPAA & RIAA & US DOJ doing a site takedown because Canada Post facilitates the trading of copyright infringing goods.

CP is doing upgrades to their site this weekend. They sent out a notice to their partners advising of Nov 2-4'th outage on the epost stuff. Suspect some of the DNS changes just slow to propagate some places.

Dont think thats it. Hosting provider's domain expired. That domain provides CP's DNS. Network solution did a hijack. Fix is in, probably take a day or two to propogate.

Somebody should be on the unemployment line for this.

It's more than ridiculous.

Re: Canada Post website gone

CGI had a HUGE dns issue today ... probably related. They manage canada post network.
