Canadian Broadband → HELP - Cable ISP Etobicoke / Weston Area > than 1mbps up?

I'm from BC and one of my staff is moving to this area and we need to get her set up on internet.

Why is finding a provider offering better than 1mbps up on cable is so hard?

Sadly the Bell Fibe service isn't available in her building/area.

What's going on here? Can someone offer some advice on a viable alternative?

Because Rogers is the sole cable service provider (other indepedent ISPs just lease lines from them, and as such, can only provide the plans that Rogers provides). Rogers IS working on improving uplink though.

I would suggest going with Teksavvy/Distributel/Start.ca . That way, you don't end up with a crappy usage cap.

Rogers new upload speeds went live (officially) today. Unless that's an area that is lagging on upgrades, upload speeds up to 10Mbps on cable will be available via Rogers, and hopefully soon via TPIA providers (Teksavvy, Distributel, Start, etc).
