 | IMAP settings Good morning all,
I have been digging into this for a couple customers this morning and contrary to popular belief we do support IMAP mail as well. I have been advised that you may be able to set your mail programs/apps for IMAP and go with the defaults. If that does not work here are the settings for Thunderbird:
Incoming: Server: mail.teksavvy.com Port: 143 Connection Security: None Authentication: Encrypted Password
Outgoing: Server: out.teksavvy.com Port: 1025 Connection Security: STARTTLS Authentication: Normal password
If it's not Thunderbird that you are using the wording may be a bit different for you but these are the basic settings.

| Oooh.. I've wanted this for many years. Will give it a spin later on and report back.
Mmm. I might even check to see if the TSI servers have proper RDNS now, too. We've had to whitelist them against SPAM detection for aeons due to that.
Thanks |

Not working here yet. |

 | Hello,
I was looking into this for you and was advised that the emails will sit on the service and wait to be requested.

| hi Keith:
I get this error message from Thunderbird (running under Ubuntu) when i try to send a test e-mail to myself, while connected through another ISP's network (using the outgoing settings you pasted above):
Sending of message failed. The message could not be sent using SMTP server out.teksavvy.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact your network administrator. |

IMAP on Teksavvy has been available for quite a while now (at least a couple of years and i'm sure probably longer than that). I've never used POP on the Teksavvy e-mail service. |
|
 | reply to silvercat Hello,
The out.teksavvy.com with port 1025 (and authentication) should work regardless of the ISP you are on. Our basic smtp.teksavvy.com port 25 is the one that is dependent on running through our service.
Have you tested this on a different client with the same results?

| hi Keith:
It works now. Forgot to fill out the username field.
Another question: For the Incoming side of things, even though we're using "Encrypted Password" as the authentication, are there any plans to use SSL/TLS / STARTTLS as the Connection Security ? (along with a secure incoming port, such as 585 / 993) ? |
|
 | SSL may be a possibility in the future. This is being worked on/looked into currently from what I was told. No ETA at this time however -- TSI Keith (E-Services) - TekSavvy Solutions Inc. Authorized TSI employee ( » TekSavvy FAQ »Official support in the forum ) |

| It was even said recently by TSI staff either here or on their forum that IMAP was not supported...
Edit, it was on TSI's forum, 2 months ago.

I guess it existed either as an unsupported and undocumented option, or it was not communicated to the staff that it is in fact supported. |
|
 | And you will see my name on that forum post as well, recently confirming IMAP but a couple months ago also stating that it wasn't an option.
I'm not sure how this slipped through the cracks and I apologize for that. It has now been added to our knowledge base so agents can find it. I will also be speaking to our quality/training department later today to see about sending a communication out to the floor for those agents that have fielded the question enough in the past to already have a "no" ready without having to check the KB. -- TSI Keith (E-Services) - TekSavvy Solutions Inc.
