[MN] Outages/slowness in northern MN

Anyone else experiencing this in the Iron Range area (I'm in city of Virginia)? Sudden stops/starts of Internet acesss although all modem lights (SB6121) stay on and 4 channels bonded. downloads will slow to crawl, stop, then suddenly start again and back to normal for 10 minutes, etc. This has been going on the last 3 days.

I have an issue posted in the forum as well. It appears another user in Aurora is having issues. I am in Mt Iron and have similar issues.

It seems this has been happening about since the outage a short while ago, not sure if related.

PS

@mchsi.com
I am in the Hoyt Lakes (55750) area and having intermittent lag and PL issues... again.

It's not like a week ago where it was so bad I was losing connection to everything, but Youtube videos -BARELY- stream at 240p sometimes, images take forever to render, and my ping to various services is varied.

I am not showing any issues like this reported for your area. If you would like to send me an IM with your phone number or account number I would be happy to look into this for you.

MC-Chad, I IM'd you my account #, thanks for asking. Like Yolo2die, I get messages like this in my modem log: "TLV-11 - unrecognized OID;CM-". About a week ago there was a confirmed outage in this node (Iron in the west to Hoyt Lakes in the east) for about 8 hours. When that problem ended the next day, all was fine for a few days, then the last 3 (now 4) days we have all seen this issue with the Internet dropping in and out although the modem stays in sync. Slow down, then total halt for a couple of minutes, back on for several more before the next incident. No problem with modem S/N, downstream or upstream levels. Please let us know what you find out. I was told this area was just upgraded for 50 Mbs at the end of October; also there is a lot of fiber digging in this area due to the NESC Middle Mile Fiber Project.

(Side note, finally got an account, figured I'd be posting here a lot... lol)

Yeah, Sveakul wraps up the situation quite nicely, that's a very accurate description of the current activity around here. However, the issues in Hoyt Lakes, or at least for my account is intermittent lag and bad quality of stream.

Also, thank you for all your work helping people on this forum, MediacomChad. You give Mediacom as good a name as you can with your willingness to assist. I'll PM you the phone number tied to my account.

I am also in Aurora, and have been having the same problems. I tried cycling the modem/router and nothing seems to help. The internet never actually drops, it's just how it was described in a previous post.

I was just notified that we are investigating a speed issue in the area. I have made Area Management aware of these issues. As soon as I get any kind of update regarding this issue, I will post it here.

Same problems today, some sites will just freeze (like the MC support site), others will load, others s-l-o-w. So not just a uniform "speed" issue but like a routing issue, and changing to Open DNS from MC DNS does not fix so not DNS related. Thanks MC-Chad for letting management know this is real--multiple people, same service area, same symptoms, same time period--and please keep us updated.

I'm a user in Virginia with this same problem. Oddly, it only seams like the web is affected. Skype calls, gaming and such don't seam to have the same magnitude of trouble.

Not sure if its related or worth mentioning. In the past online location services like google maps would place me reasonably close to where i live, the right town at least. Since this problem has been going on these online geolocates put me in Michigan.

Any word yet, my net has fully dropped out a few times in the last couple hours.

I have Time Warner Cable in Nebraska and Youtube is not streaming well for me either, I can't stream in 720P because it buffers, but it works fine in 480P mode. So maybe its just youtube being a piece of crap, or maybe there is a local issue.

A few friends and I were playing diablo 3, and they're also on mediacom, granted a few towns away, but all 3 of us disconnected at the same time. So I don't think it is just youtube.

I just got an update that the speed issues in the area should be resolved. If you would. Can you run some tests and let me know what speeds you are getting.

Thanks for the update MC-Chad, and hey it looks like we're Back in Black here again My sustained download speeds with DOCSIS-3 and 4 channel bonding have returned to normal (16.2 Mbs), and the failure to load/slowness on various web sites has disappeared. Interestingly, my modem signal levels have also improved on all fronts. I don't online game so can't speak as to ping, but how you other guys in Mtn. Iron, Aurora, and Hoyt Lakes doing? MC-Chad tell them to hold that dial right there, haha! Can you tell us what they fixed exactly--just interested?? They were very odd symptoms. Here's hoping this is solved permanently. Thank you again for getting involved.

Even though I am in Iowa, this original post appears to mimic my past weekend starting Thursday night, (as well as mimic another recent thread re: throttling and SD on Amazon video as well as Netflix despite the HD buffering). Mediacom wanted a technician to come out today however my previously scheduled meetings did not allow for it. Seems this 'issue,' a technician was needed for resolved itself magically or is in the process of doing so. »i88.photobucket.com/albums/k179/···0330.jpg
