[Exede] how do you properly network exede +Can't change DNS serv

So, I got the router used as a switch right now and can't access the router anymore. (The router IP# is changed).

Since the modem does DHCP, why do I need anything other than a switch ?

Anyway, I can't access my other machines names. (such as: \\name) either.

So, how do you properly network this ? Do you let the router obtain the IP # automatically, and then use the router's DHCP for your router ?

Currently ipconfig on this machine comes back with:

IP Address: (my IP address that is shown)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.252.0
Default Gateway: (A Number different from IP Address).

the other machines show different numbers as well, besides the gateway is the same IP#.

None are showing anything internal (Such as 192.168.x.x) .

Also, I can't change my DNS servers (to bypass exede's terrible ones right now ("Server Not Found" 50% of the time).

edit: BTW: my router never worked on Hughesnet , or Exede properly as a true router (BEFSR41) . I guess due to being a DSL/cable router ?

Then I probably should get a router that's actually going to route right on sat's.

What is the cheapest one that's been approved ?

Unknown...a router can not be setup in switch mode on Exede or Wildblue.

Do a master reset on your router, and then use it.
