[IA] Motorolla SB6121 Now Supported?

Hi All,

I've scoured the posts all the way up to November 2012...

Am I accurate in saying that though Mediacom still officially does not have a firmware release for the SB6121, later builds of this modem have a newer firmware that has fixed past stability issues? Any identifiers on the box indicating a working firmware?

It's hard to find an SB6120 locally. Also, if I were ever needing to call Mediacom for support am I out of luck if I have the SB6121? Is Mediacom still persuing a firmware from Motorola for this?

Just wondering.

Thanks,
gunrock

A large percentage of our market supports the SB6121. The only thing is that we don't have the firmware to send to the modem.

Okay, so Dubuque area is fine I assume and I will also assume (of course knowing other issues could exist or arise) that if I try to find a newer build SB6121 I should be okay in regards to past issues with older firmware?
Thanks,

Getting a newer build should include newer firmware. There should also be an option to manually upgrade the firmware if it does not contain the newest version.

Sweet-good to know-so Mediacom getting ahold of the firmware is to be able to push it out to customers, if needed--you don't modify it in anyway?

Thanks,

So does Mediacom modify the firmware or merely have it available from manufacturer to push out to customers?

Just curious.

It is the manufacturer firmware.

Chad someone needs to make sure 6121 gets added to the supported modem list. No excuses! This is by far the best selling DOCSIS 3 modem on the market and the 6120 has not been available for months now. I swear I could work as a salesman for Motorola. I have recommended this modem to many customers. I mean with the prices people pay why pay a rental fee for a 10yr old piece of shit modem?

I have used a Moto 6121 on Mediacom since Feb 2012. It works without any issue, is reliable, fast, and bonds 4 channels. It is probably the best modem I have ever used. Here is the info from my modem:

Model Name: SB6121
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB612X-1.0.5.1-SCM00-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot(25CLK) 1.0.12.
Hardware Version: 5.0

Firmware Build Time: Dec 21 2010 15:52:06

As you can see the Firmware build time is almost 2 years old.

Thanks everyone--Radio Shack is going to have a BF deal on these -$69.99 IIRC, so I hope to snag one then.

You might want to check the SB6180. Have been using it for over two weeks now with no problems. Bought it "open box" for $59. Looks new, even the cords still in plastic. It will bond 8 down and 4 up.

I have the 20-2 service.

How do you find out if a particular market (Clearlake Oaks, Lake County, CA) supports the SB6121?

My dad's in Lakeport and is using a Zoom 5341J that I bought for him a few weeks ago. It's been working pretty well so far, four downstream channels and one up. Very consistent speeds.
