is there a problem with TWC in Queens?

I have the 30Mb wideband and im only getting 6Mb DL with an esxtreme amount of packet loss. Is anyone else having this problem?

Have you tried to call in and see if there's an issue?

Looking at your other post, you need to get a 2 way splitter. You're probably killing your own signal with that open port.

Yes. They are not aware of anything but say there MIGHT be degraded performance because of the hurricane. I just wanted to see if other people are seeing the same thing.

I just bought a 2 way splitter from radio shack. I will post if that makes it any better.

If anyone in or near the woodside area is on dslr and has wideband, let me know if your speeds have dropped drastically in the last few weeks.

Is there any way for me to do a line test or do i have to call TWC and have them do it? I asked the TWC tech and he said no, we do a special line quality test from your modem directly to our server.

Just run a ping test to google.com to see if they're steady or there's a lot of fluctuation or packet loss.

Yes there is a problem.

My internets been intermittently slow since the hurricane hit.

Calling tech support gets you nowhere. The outsourced moron on the line just reads out of his manual. They run a line test and its good yet they still want to send a tech out to check the wiring. IF THE LINE TEST IS GOOD THEN THERE ISN'T A PROBLEM WITH THE WIRING.

Not to mention all the techs are backed up till next week. So by the time they get to it, they might have it fixed by then.

yea i got a appt 2 weeks from now.

my prob actually turned out to be my router. doing a factory reset fixed it. i didnt think to connect the modem directly to the computer, duh man, 3 days of pulling my hair out and it was the #@#$%^ router!

i guess ill be cancelling my appt

This has been my issue and exact problem. They are wasting my time with a goddamn tech.

I don't have wideband but I've been having periodic slowdowns since the hurricane. Did a line test back on the 9th

You'll see in there 100% packet loss at a few of the hops. I am still having trouble on and off. Though I've tried to be patient because i know there is a lot of repair work after the storm. When it gets bad enough I've been using my phone as a wifi hotspot.

I guess in a week or two I'll start complaining.

im a twc tech. biggest problem is noise in the return path 5-40mhz. this is caused by bad and old wiring legal or not. original aerial drops in many parts of queens are non messengered type coax so after years of rubbing against the metal strand the jacket starts to peel and leak signal. plant maintenance also needs to do a better job of maintaining clean plant. contracted installers leave a mess by making bad fittings ,not tightening cables with wrench, not terminating open ports when disconnecting customers.

Well, I initially thought after hours on the phone with TWC that my problem was my router but then TWC couldn't get their modem to work wirelessly correctly either. 1Mb DL. Hour in line at TWC Chelsea to get my 3rd modem this year. Lady told me "its all set up and ready to go!". Got home, didn't work. 2 more hours with TS. They couldn't get the new surfboard modem to work wirelessly either and I learned that TWC chelsea gave me the complete wrong power supply.

Back to TWC chelsea for another whopping 1 hour wait time. On my lunchbreak, eating my lunch hunched over a garbage can. After the 27 tickets were called and my number was up, the lady swapped the Motorola for an Aaris modem. She confidently told me "no prob its all set up and ready to go!" Got back to work and got yelled at by my boss for being back late from my hour lunchbreak. 4th modem now. Got home, brand new Aaris modem doesn't work either. Wireless LED not even lit at all. 2 more hours with TS. They couldn't get the wireless to even turn on at all.

TWC TS told me the wireless specialists are gone for the day, call tomorrow morning. Called today, another hour working on it with the wireless experts and he FINALLY got it to work. He told me it was a coding issue in my account.

So that means that this whole issue had nothing to do with me. Words cannot explain how frustrated I am.
